Default Zip battery life is terrible

It seems to be almost eight hours of battery life, and I have to recharge almost every two days... It's ridiculous. My original Clip lasted me the whole week. Is there any way to maximize the battery life for the Zip?

Use MP3 files only, or use Rockbox.

The difference between the two is a mere 3 hours of battery life, your overstatement is retarded.

Plug it in at night when, presumably, you are sleeping . . . .

Or invent a better battery? The last thing I want to do is to keep on plugging it in my computer to recharge it.

I would play around with the Brightness and Backlight settings if you haven't tried it. If all else fails, go with what cbomb said...

What's your big aversion to charging it?

With proper use and care, you should be able to get 15+ hours out of one charge.

If you want long battery life, then spend $175 or more on a Cowon J3, or buy a usb battery pack to use with your Clip Zip.

I don't need to use the device as he has already said he gets 8 hours, and the clip+ when I used it generally got 11 hours. I did the simple math guy.

If you can't stand charging your device daily go buy a Sony and stop weeping.

Maybe 12 hours with high bitrate MP3's, no EQ, and appropriate brightness/backlight settings....unless you use Rockbox, of course.

Well, a newbie to the site might not have caught on to your subtle hint....I just added a bit of clarity.

Mine, with oficial firmware version 1.01.17 lasted also 8 hours(*), a backstep
compared to my clip+
But , as Marvin said, Rockbox works, I get now 14hours with r31186build

(*)=medium volume, 192kbps avbr lame mp3, minium brightness and 10sec backlight and leving the player alone with almost no key touching

I'm old. I still laugh when I see complaints about 8 hours of battery life, when most of these kids never had to always buy packages of AA batteries regularly for their cassette walkman or CD player. "In my day..."
