Headphone recommendation for $150-$200

I've never heard the m35 though, so I can't answer that one. But, compared to the sq of my pro700mk2 it's decent, but the mk2 is the closer to the m50. I'll go w/the mk2 any day.

How would you rate bass of XB500 viz-a-viz mk2?

I know both are not in same price range. just wanna know. i did used stock player on samsung. guess will have to carry another mp3 player to check it out.

I am curious if you have ever heard a set that met your bass needs, regardless of price. I ask because sometimes people don't understand the limitations or charecteristics of the form factor they are researching.

Hippo VB in IEMs. And since i have heard it a lot, i end up comparing most 'phones with it. In headphones, i have heard good bass on m50, boom-boom on Dr. Dre's.

I know IEM and Headphones are different, but then i have used VB so much, its hard to find something similar in headphones. That is why, at the start i have mentioned, i am coming off IEM's, so it is hard for me to come to a conclusion.

Regarding XB500, I mentioned that i heard it with crappy SGS stock player, so it may not have sound good, so i am willing to give it a second chance. For mk2, it is not possible since it is not available anywhere for testing so i have to go by owner's comment and that is why i asked TDS for his view.

If i can get 80-90% of mk2 bass for $50, why spend 3 times more?

just thought to upgrade this thread with some a little info.

i have ordered Cortex CHP 2500 suggested by DKS.

Also have finalized Audio Technica pro700mk2 which will be ordered next month.
