I was using MM for audio an MPC-HC for video. Going to see if MM can be tweaked for better video performance and quality, and if not, I'll go back to MPC-HC.

I have found MPC-HC with the CCCP codec pack to be the best option for computers with older hardware. I could do that on my computer but I'm too lazy, lol.

Syncing with an Android device just got more complicated.

Why? Do you use MM to sync?

I do only because of playlists. I like to keep my playlists consistent across devices. I finally got it working (crossing my fingers), but it is needlessly problematic on MM4. Worked great on 3.x.

Interesting, this "upgrade" seems more like a downgrade to me.

For me it seems that the program begins to act sluggish after I've had it open for a while. That and occasional freezes caused by dragging/minimizing the window
![]() I might consider downgrading to 3 since few of the new features are of any use to me, plus the old theme I had isn't working with 4.

What little time I've spent watching videos, I still prefer using WMP12 to MM at this point....again, maybe there's some settings I haven't optimized. And in response to the inevitable,"why not use VLC?" query that somebody will be bound to post, I did try it briefly a while back, only to discover that it was eating more CPU than WMP did....and WMP would play everything VLC did, so I saw no point in keeping VLC. I don't put anything into the WMP library, because it sucks.....I just open the videos from Explorer.

I use the Jet Audio software from Cowon to play my videos, and I use the MM software for syncing my other non-iPod players, iTunes for the iPods & iPhones. Personally, I feel everyone BUT Apple and MS's Zune software are starting to suck nowadays. Everyone else is trying to copy them - and destroying perfectly good media management programs.
I'm gonna go downgrade my MM software - the new one sux!!! PS: I'm (???strangely???) stoned on a clairitin d ATM,...I can't wait for this shit to wear off!!!

. The Zune software is pretty good as well, but I don't install it since I don't have a Zune.

My issue with MM4 has been the syncing. With MM3 it was easy, hilite the tracks, right click and send to my Zen (or Archos). Now that I have MM4 it seems it won't transfer. My Zen's sync icons spins and spins forever and after I disconnect it nothing has transferred. The same with my Archos. I have to use Windows Explorer to manually drag files into the Zen ... So, what's the issue??

I never upgraded mine either but I only use it to export data base so I'm fine with the older version as it does what I need fine.

I'm still rocking on foobar2000 and iTunes
!I also don't like MM 4.0. I don't use MM anymore but if I was going to I'd install an older version.

I'm using it to put my tunes on the player, @192kbps mp3 VBR. You can set MM to do this for a device, thereby eliminating the need to reassign a bitrate to a device for syncing in the future. It remembers that particular devices settings for future usage. And as much as I dislike MM, it's excellent in this area.
Plus, before I DO sync, it shows me how much space the tunes will require on the device BEFORE I even start. MM has it's uses, and some features are great, but on the whole I'm not a MM lover. I think I may have to recheck J.River again,...and hope I get it to finally work. I had so many probs with it when I had Windows Vista. It really soured my opinion of it,...and it was my #1! ***sigh***
