Default Magazines on Zune HD?

Any ways to do this? I know that you can probably convert a PDF of a magazine into a epub, then use the Ereader app to get onto the zune but that would create a enormous 300Mb file for a single magazine and a 200KB file takes AGES to get on there, so I ask you, any ideas?

- How about PDF to images? Then you can scroll, zoom in, etc, is there a program that converts PDF's into plain .jpgs?

Edit: Got PDF to Jpg to work, but the Zune software is so wonky that it mixed up the number of pages.. so it goes Page 100-109, Page 10, Page 110-109, Page 20. :/

Edit 2: Also, images come out nicely, but when you zoom, you cannot read any words :/, tried increasing the DPI ( doubling in fact to the point where 10 images ( pages ) took up 100 MB.. and still very blurry

Edit 3: Lol.. made it so big that one image was 29 MB's, 18,000 x 28,000 Pixels, 1000 DPI and still VERY blurry. Halp? I don't know what I'm doing

This issue has been noted for a while. The Zune Software does some conversions of your file before they put it onto the Zune so it does end up blurry when you zoom in.

I don't think there's a fix for it...

I would just go epub, would be the easiest option.

I can't see why you would want to read anything on a ZUneHD asides from your music titles and such....certainly not a magazine or ebook.

Books are readable on the zune, I'm sure magazines would be too, but How am I going to sync a 300MB epub via wireless when a 500KB epub takes 10 minutes?

Edit: I have a 8MB connection.. so it's not my internet

Why do it wirelessly? Why not plug it in?

Because how I have to import the Epub via the Zune Reader app, which uses internet?

Does it make a difference if I plug in my zune to my laptop?

Used a different program that spat out a 18MB epub, tried to sync and it says download failed :/

I've never used that app, but maybe plugging in would help....it's worth a try.

If you want to do the images thing, there is a way around the software resizing as it syncs. You have to upload it to a website, browse to each one individually and hit "Save Image to Collection" or something like that. That saves the whole image, not the one converted to better fit the Zune's screen.

Also, if you plug your Zune into your computer without the software open, the Zune will use the computer's internet connection instead of its own wireless.

Good stuff Steinburger, but that would take forever to save 209 images.

Great tip on the wired connection ^.^

Yea, I figured you wouldn't want to bother with that, but ya never know.

I haven't done any sort of tests as to wired vs. wireless speed.

Default easy fix

http://calibre-ebook.com will work perfectly just sign up for a free dynamic DNS service install calibre have calibre convert whatever you want to a epub and turn on the server in calibre

it will be whatever your free domain name is like joe.dyndns.com:8080

also make sure your router and firewall allow port 8080 to your pc

then add the OPSD address you created to the ZuneHD ebook reader if you search bing.com there are directions with pictures on how to do this

hope that helps
