Anyone use a loaded microsdhc 32GB successfully with a Rockbox'ed Clip Zip? Any problems when rebooting the device?

Mine works just fine. In fact, I can only use it with Rockbox, as I have a couple of files the OF doesn't approve of ...lol.

32GB card works great running rockbox on the Zip and no issues rebooting the device. Once the first db refresh is complete the device boots instantly. On the other hand the OF takes 25 seconds to boot even after the first long refresh. On a side note, I load the card on a card reader, it’s much faster. I also remove the card if I need to change anything on the 8GB onboard memory to avoid the OF from refreshing much longer.

Thank you everyone! I have a simple rule: if I'm going to plug the Clip Zip into the computer the microsdhc is removed.

The player looks so much better with the Rockbox firmware and themes. I'm really surprised that SanDisk hasn't put the effort into cleaning up or improving their bad-looking screens and menus.

I'm surprised too but think how lucky we are to have rockbox I never booted to the OF on my v1 and v2 clips and don't feel the need with the Zip either.

It appears that USB has been enabled for current builds, for testing.

I was tinkering with it last night, and not having any luck. Fortunately, everything else still works fine.

Definitely a work-in-progress. Still, a couple of more fixes for USB have been dropped today so we can hope.

Haha! Sadly, these are SanDisk's improved screens and menus. For years, they'd been wedded to the e200's/Fuze's even uglier and clunkier GUI...

I don't think I could thank you enough for RockBox. It has solved all the problems I had with the Sanza operating system. 4 days of beating my head against that wall fixed in 3 minutes!I am using the latest build on my Ubuntu 11.04 system and it is working like a dream. Thank you so much.

And about the original question y have a 32gb kingston class4 on my rockboxed zip and goes perfect , also goes perfect on my older rockboxed clip+ & fuze

Noticed that my Zips aren't always read when I plug them in....sometimes I have to try again for them to be recognized. but given the amazing number of revisions we're seeing the last couple of days, I'm just going to leave them as is for now since I don't need to swap any files. Currently they are on r31247.

@TexasR.....I haven't tried that patch because I almost never use the radio.

Have been using since 2 days ago,build 31267 with usb, windows xp and even an (don't laught too much)
old 98se at work (using a generic driver) detected the clipzip and the microsd32gb ok
and i have transfered files succesfully.
AS Marvin The Martian said , i also get sometimes freezes and have to unplug/plug
but still preffer it than O.F.
A few min ago, when the player wasn't transfering nor being accesed by antivirus,etc when unplugged it
"unsafe"=> just unplug, i got an "Data bort at 30055364
fsr 0x8 (domain 0,fault adress 0xE29D42) " error.
10 sec pressing Power off, power on and everything ok again so far...
Still prefer this than sandisk's O.F. :-P
2 hours later, i got a another "data abort..." message while changing theme from dfkt's to lebelium's ,but this time re-booted it'self ,the screen
become weird and after "manual" off=>on ok again.On previous theme changing did'nt happen.I hope not have corrupt
the zip on the previous unsafe plug-out while usb linked to pc

when i connect to the PC, player hangs and this error in system log:

is it possible to disable the USB support in RB so this doesn't hang on user?

other than this RB seems to work fine with DFKT_Minimum_Zip_v0.36..

Can someone please recommend a version with either no USB support or better working USB support? preferably with as many other patches/fixes as possible. this Zip is for a gift so I just want to stick a stable build of RB on there and call it done, USB would have been a bonus but i can get it back and add that later (and explain how to add music using OF).

btw, if you delete the .rockbox dir what happens when player boots? should you reflash OF to always boot OF?

Just boot to the OF before connecting until the bugs are worked out is the best solution for now IMO.

Yes, just reflash copy of OF that hasn't been patched.
