So I just listened to the Windows Phone podcast and heard Matt and Brian make the announcement. Bittersweet to be sure - I'm really happy with Mango on WP7, and the Marketplace on WP7 is everything that this community wanted for Zune HD... but I won't lie - I have a couple of reserve Zune HDs for when my current one passes. I'll always remain a Zune HD guy at heart, no question.

True a Zune HD2 sure would be nice do they honestly have to compete with Apple.

Proof? Like, a personal experience? I bought mine pretty much right when it came out... Maybe someone else can vouch. What I do know is that CowBoom is Best Buy's refurb marketplace and that I personally vest as much trust in CowBoom as Best Buy.

Unfortunately, you are right... what a disappointment... I have bought 2 MS products Zune HD and WP7. I used Zune HD for 3 months. I don't care about radio quality "cloud based" based music downloads. I have my libraries in Flac to hear them at home on high quality equipment and it was extremely frustrating and boring, having to manage, convert and syncronize music files everytime I wanted to reload Zune HD with music instead of an ultra simple drag and drop copy...after some time I stopped using it and got a WP7 with the hope that it would be a competitive product in terms of supported file formats. It is a beautiful OS too. I was waiting until Mango update and Microsoft did absolutely nothing about its formats.It doesn't even play divx...Thank God there are some true musicphile products like Sansa Clip, which I use so easily, with no restrictions. I feel bad about Zune...it's there, on my beautiful phone and I can't use it.

Yea, its sad. At least the people providing my warranty said they would gladly fix my ZuneHD for $50-60 no matter what happens since no single part is worth more than $60 in the device now.
Amazingly, the ES ZuneHD 32GB that I have hasn't had a single issue till the latest firmware update. Slowly, its been having problems with song and file corruptions. Only happens when I put it on to Sync though so it leads me to believe its the software though. As for why I haven't been around... I got a new job.. lol. President of Operations, CP Aerospace. About $92K/yr salary. Hard job, but I take pride in knowing what we make is made in the USA by US Workers which we pay good and make sure they are happy. (Floor Worker gets at minimum $62,000/yr w/ benefits)

Hia! I'm sad to see the Zune HD go. It had potential, but MS marketed it as an awkward middle child between lower end mp3 players and the iPod Touch. And it failed miserably. But, either way, I still love to listen to music on my Zune, it's still way better than an iPod. There was a thread i started here asking about headphones a while ago too, thanks for all you're help guys, I ended up getting some $25 JVC stereo headphones to hold me until I had actual money, but never actually bought them :P plus I broke my zune! it still works, but the screen's cracked
And the sync cable doesn't work either.... :P I may have a z-1000 in my future.^I haven't been here for a while either, and funnily enough it's also because I got a real job lol Anyhow, peace to all ye Zuners, and here's to the hope of non-phone WP7 device!P.S. - flyordie... aerospace... I get it
