According to the FCC filings, the owner's manual becomes public info on Jan 27th, so I'm sure a release date is very close... Feb at the latest.

so turns out it's coming to the US in march and only in 32gb (which is fine with me)

with a device like this (i.e. android based) is the SQ determined by the device itself or the app you use? for the best SQ would you need to use Sony's native music app?

Though I like Sony's sound and battery life. You know well it is going to be a DO....GG! It will be likely loaded with propiritary crap which will render it useless like a $99 andriod e-reader.

No Thanks Sony. I too happy with my SGP 5.0. It has good battery life and decent sound (thanks to you TDS for the recommendation); oh yeah it is expandable too.

Sony loves losing money and they got a winner with this one. Sony gives what they want and not what the publlic wants. Oh I almost forgot no accessories. Sony is too busy making iXxx accessories to bother supporting their own product.

damn, with the price the way it is it makes me reconsider the new a series, but for completely different reasons:

A-series:
compact size
cheaper
simple (user interface is no nonsense, just music/video)

z-series:
bigger/better screen
android
more features/utility in general

damn sony.

...was enough for me to pull the trigger on a 1060. Also ordered a clear hard (3-sided) case off ebay, CKH-NWZ1000.

Very interested to see the mini-HDMI quality (not like the 846's proprietary video cable). Happy to have the built-in mono speaker for nightime podcasts or OTR listening.

Wonder if Slingbox will work on it???

I think I've decided that I'll cross my fingers and hope Sony makes a second generation of the Z, fixing many of their issues in that one (just hope they'll actually make a second gen)

8, 16, and 32gb models now in stock at sonystyle.com. All overpriced compared to the competition. Android 2.3 is only one generation behind so far. No memory expansion I can see. Can't force myself to buy one.
