@Olley, I'd keep an eye on exportprive. If it only comes out in Japan, that's probably the first (reliable) place you'll see it available to the non-Rising Sun lands.

I'd at least like 32GB, since I do watch a lot of videos on my PMP. I find that I'm running out on my 16GB too easily.

Too bad this doesn't have a micro sd card slot. I'd probably have to go with the 64 gb or leave a lot of my music at home.

Get it, beouch,... But, I think you'll have to settle for one of these (EU volume locked!!!) models instead:

Sony NWZ-A847 64GB WALKMAN MP3 Player

Sony NWZ-A867 64GB WalkmanŽ Video MP3 player

Do you guys honestly think this will be released in the US? The last Sony I owned was an NWZ-A818. One of the best players I have ever owned, and wanted to try out some other companies for a while, Zune, Cowon... and now I want to go back to something I know I'll love. Sony.

I'd be shocked to find it in the U.S. Maybe at BHphotovideo.com or JR.com, but I'm not betting on it. A real shame though, because I'd jump on one of the Z1000s in a second.

I wish we got this stateside because it seems amazing.
Lets say we got it... in that case
I wish we got this stateside with decent memory (64 gb) or expandable memory
Lets say we got that too... in that case
I wish it wasn't overpriced like it is right now at about $550
Well looks like the only way I'm going to get this device is if I find a genie in a lamp, looks like I'm gonna have to get the samsung player until then.

Release date for these puppies is Dec. 10, 2011 in Japan. Prices are 16GB (NW-Z1050) - Ĩ28,000, 32GB (NW-Z1060) - Ĩ33,000 and 64GB (NW-Z1070) - Ĩ43,000. That's between $360 and $560 when translated into US currency.

Word is there will be a western release sometime in the first quarter of 2012, but Sony are not saying which models (ie. the 64GB one).

PS. There have been some sites that say they take microSD cards but have not found a confirmation on this, even from the Japanese Sony site.

Looks like it might be coming to the US, but with a catch... seems it's only an 8GB model.

I think it's going to be 8, 16, and 32. If you look at the FCC report, they are only testing the 8 GB version, but three variants are listed, with the only difference being the memory. It wouldn't be practical to test all three, because the FCC doesn't care about the memory.

No 64gb? I'll pass! Especially since my SGP 5.0 is only 8gb, but it has the winning feature of a microSD card slot.

Sony, as usual, you can KMA!!!

Android + "Music App" of choice = FLAC playback. This has the Android Marketplace, so it's good to go,...in a higher capacity than 8gb.
