Hello everyone
As a previous user/lover of the RE252 & (especially) RE262, I was eager to get my grubby paws on the new RE272s as soon as they were released. Thanks to Ampcity here in UK, I did just that today, for the princely sum oif £169: http://www.ampcity.co.uk/headphones-...eadphones.html Still early days with them, as am yet to burn them in much, but I can report they offer staggering amounts of detail retrieval and clarity, and technically represent a step up from the already excellent 262s. Are they worth the extra £50 or so over the latter? Well, if you have the money, I'd say yes. These are probably more analytical than Ety, treble that's nice and sparkly, mids that sound tonally natural and have a soundstage to rival the very best universal iems money can get you. If it helps to know, iems I've travelled through on the way here include (in no particular order chronology): ER4P/S, CK10, SM3, DDM, EQ7, MTPC, Image X10, RE252, RE262. And while I don't have any but the last of these any more, I'm quietly confident the RE272 would beat all of them. As far as I am concerned. Those last 6 words are my get out clause, of course. You are not me and you do not hear as I do. Sorry about that, but hey, what can you do? Interested to see what others think of these new kids on the sonic block. I know, for instance, there's not much love lost between a lot of you and Hifiman's crudtastic PMP offerings, and I'd agree they are shockingly overpriced and underspecced. But their iems, well, that's a different flavour of noise all together. |
