I have Sony NWZ A844 with stock MDR NC33 Earbuds, and after careful consideration i have found 2 options to satiate my Bass Needs
![]() Hippo VB and ZO I love both of these and will get them both. But ill get em one by one. Maybe the other 2 months after i get one of em. So my question is should i get HIPPO VB first ? or Should i get ZO first ? They say Zo is capable increasing the bass response of even the lowest end IEM's , and im thinking MDR NC33 will improve once i connect em with ZO... But im not sure how the sound is gonna be like, i mean Hippo's go way down to 15 Hz ah darn im confused !! ![]() back to square one !! Which one to get first ? i still have to live with my choice for 2 months until the get the other one ..

IEM first, headphone amp afterwards. At least thats what I'd do,because I'd rather take the time out to let the new IEM's burn into my brain and get used to them, then add an amp to it if I felt the need to.

I would call it one, just because its made to make sound expand more.

Thread moved to Headphones.
For future reference you can delete a thread until someone else posts in it by using the Advanced options in the menu. My thought are the same as Lagoo56's. I'd get the headphones first. There's the chance that you don't need the Digizoid or anything else once you wrap your head around the sound of the VB. If you do then you can add that later. If the bass content and quality of the VB is what you like you're that much closer to buying your next set of IEMs.

I agree also, as the headphones make the biggest difference in the listening experience. An amp is an afterthought, and not always needed - but the Digiziod ZO should still be high on the list - it's an amazing little bugger - I luv mine. I don't need it with all my headphones & mp3 players, but it makes a nice difference with the one's (dbi pro-700's anyone!!!) I use it with.

I'd think that the ZO would make the VB unlistenable since there would just be waaaay too much bass. I haven't heard either though, but I'd be concerned that the two together would produce simply too much bass.

Get the VBs first. you never know, you may find you don't need to spend the extra money on the ZO. My VBs were plenty of bass. I would love to pair the ZO with something like the Phonaks though.

The VBs never left me wanting in the bass department, but in the build quality department....yeah.

Yeah, such a pain in the ass though to have to have my 3rd set replaced in 7 months. I'd rather just go with something more solidly built tbh.

I can only use full-sized headphones,...so I've no experience w/the hippos. My AKG K518's get overwhelmed by the massive bass of the ZO (too much bass IMO - for me that is), so I use the K518's directly from the headphone out.

Ouch. Well, IIRC, the new ones look sturdier, at least the stress reliefs and jacks do.
