Refurbished Monster Turbine or Hippo VB?

On the Monster site they have the Turbines for real cheap but they are refurbished... So..Im ready to get a new pair of IEMs.... and these are my last 2 choices...What would you guys prefer?

I was thinking of pulling the trigger on a pair of refurb turbines as well.

I see the turbines have a love/hate following both here and at the other headphone site... Maybe the turbines don't show well against other mid-$150 sets, but how do factory refurbs stack against the $50 range of IEMs?

I demoed a set of turbines at a local store and I think they are well worth the $50 price. I really liked my VBs but I think I would probably go with a $50 set of turbines over the $80 hippos.

I did it... Love them. The Monster Turbines are the best headphones I've ever owned. Better than the Meelectronics M6, M9, and my previous reference, Etymotic ER-6is. Plenty of bass, but do not become muddy.

I had to adjust the eq settings on my Fuze+. I'm nearly flat, the lowest-freq slider is up one click and the highest-freq slider is up two clicks and the reset are at unity. I previously had the bass up three clicks and the highs were up as well - which is what sounded good with the M9s.

Anyways, these turbines are very fun.... make me smile when I pop them in.

Mine came with a velcro pouch, three sets of mushroom tips (s, m, & l) and two sets of tri-flange tips. Close inspection and listening shows no defects or issues. I'm extremely happy with this move.
