I was thinking of the headphone out, although I suppose if you wanted line out you could use a fuze and get one through the dock connector.

Ironically, they've recently begun selling this on Head-Fi. And the seller's a sponsor too.

Ironic, but not surprising.
Money rule this world, and Jude-Fi in particular.

I'm surprised Jude allowed it in the first place, since NwAvGuy is known as 'Lord Voldemort' over there... not to mention that the point of the O2 was to show that you don't need exotic parts to make an amp that performs well. Also, there have been two separate O2 threads that were locked for seemingly no reason.

Seems like it's a double standard: "we don't want you guys discussing this amp in our forums, but thank you for buying one and supporting our empire."

I'm still waiting for Currawong's review

link

He had had some pretty great things to say about the O2 and it's designer in the Head-Fi threads. Most of his lovely comments disappeared though.

HA! The case is all aluminum otherwise he probably would just set fire to it on camera with a torch. I think we'll all be the ones eventually having the last laugh, however.
Should make for an interesting review...

Smile O2 complete builds

I am presently waiting the arrival of my O2 from JDS labs who were offering it as a complete build for a relatively reasonable price. Many of us that are fairly new to the audiophile hobby owe a huge debt of gratitude to NewAvGuy. He has provided, at great personal expense to himself, all of us who are new to the hobby with a breath of fresh air. Personally he has saved me a great deal of money. Many thanks NewAvGuy.

I just bookmarked the page for JDS Labs, since I know I'll get one of these sooner or later, and I'm not gonna build it myself.

Nice job once again, jmwreck. I'm going to be building one of these babies myself soon

TBH, if I could carry one of these in my pocket I'd have one already. They still look so damn sweet - inside & out!!!

Seems like Mouser is out of the NJM4556AD with a lead time of 16 weeks. Looks like I'll either have to get it from another source, or I can get the DD version instead (which is in stock). Does anyone know if there any major differences between them?

NwAvGuy said the DD version is supposed to have a bit less noise and is fine to use instead of the AD.

Thanks, maverickronin. I just have two more parts that need to be resolved now:

-WAU12-200 (lead time 8 weeks). According to NwAvGuy the best transformers are the WAU16-400, 412-218054 or WAU16-1000 CUI (all more expensive than the 200, but not a big deal)
-10-0518-10 (lead time 4 weeks) Not sure if I can use the 10-0518-10H or 10-0518-10T, but neither are in stock either.

I would like to ask for your ideas regarding this transformer http://www.evernote.com/shard/s102/s...12874e98482e60

1. is it enough for the o2?
2. is the output VAC?
3. sorry if I asked these questions, but im confused.

Besides the WAU12-200 any other transformer that outputs 14-20 volts AC at 200ma or more will be fine. Lower voltage will give you less than full power and higher voltage will put the internal voltage regulators into thermal protection. Excess current capacity doesn't matter.

I'm not sure about the other part. You could ask on DIYaudio.

If your local power is ~230 VAC and you wire it the series configuration mentioned in the PDF it should work. It just looks like a normal transformer to me since it doesn't mention any rectification. AC in, AC out.

You would be working with fairly high voltages though so I wouldn't recommend it unless you have some degree of experience working with it or can get the assistance of someone who does. You'd have to put it in some kind of enclosure with with a power cord appropriate to you country on one end and the right size barrel plug for the O2 on the other end. Its AC and not grounded or fused so the polarity doesn't matter.

-power is 230 VAC
-wiring is in series
-power cord acquired
-enclosure acquired
-2.1mm plugs acquired

so am i ready to go?

If that's the right plug size you're good to go. To busy to double check that one right now.
