I have sensitive ear canals. I can use IEMs but if I insert and remove them too much over a short time period or just after a while of use, I have to switch to cans to let the irritation go down. happens every few weeks.

I used to have issues with my Zune Premium IEMs. But my Panas never bothered me.

Just received mine (delivered to France from Singapour in 3 days !!), they changed the tips (for blacks, reds and blues in S M & L), the jack connector and the Y splitter.

Those VB tips look FAR IMPROVED from the old ones...and the splitter/plug looks very sturdy indeed.

How they sound? Still chest bustin'? And how is that Hippo Box?

The Y splitter looks fantastic it's where the 2nd Gen VBs were so weak, and I'm glad they kept that same angle plug it's solid.

I use JVC Marshmallow tips on my VBs, best i have found.

Heya ApaucalyptiK...one more thing:

Do you still have the box the VBs came in? Just wondering if they ever got around to fixing the typo on the box?

Originally, they had the settings for the bass plates WRONG. They had marked the 3 dot plate as being the MOST BASS [which is clearly the least bass].

I really like the tips, very similar to the monsters but just a little smaller, which is the perfect size for me (i never used the monster tips, S was too small and M just a little too big). So in term of confort i may prefer them to the sony hybrids i've been using for 3 years now.

I didn't try the VB very long, less then half an hour i believe, i prefer to burn them in before really using them
The sound was of course very dark, huge bass, recessed mids, and highs corrects in matter of volume but not so many details i think... Again real quick out of the box.

Same for the Hippo Box+, didn't try it much for now, plus it's my first amp so...
I would say nice gain, around 6-7 DB with my panys, and i think it add a little more clarity/séparation. Bass boost seems interesting but may be useless with IEM such as VBs en HJE900.

Something is bothering me... They cracks when i put them in my ears, no sound quality loss or anything like this, but it's very annoying and it reminds me of an old pair of skullcandys... Is it normal for the VBs or should i return them ?

^ Heya...the "crackling" sound might be a bit of driver flex. I have not noticed this on my VBs. This can happen with alot of IEMs though and from what I recall, it is nothing to be concerned about.

Still, perhaps more expert peeps can chime in on this...

Are they vented? I don't remember reading if VBs are or not. The reason I bring it up is that I have two sets of IEMs, Zune Premiums (not vented) and Panasonic RP-HJE900 (vented). The Zunes, when I put them in my ears, make a crackling noise, but the Panas don't. I think it may be because the air is getting stuck in your ears and compressed, like when you slam a car door, while the vented IEMs allow air to flow in and out. Complete guess on the entire part.
