Why is the AKG k518 (LE) so much cheaper in colour?

I'm assuming the "LE" just stands for "limited edition", but I'm disconcerted as to how the price varies so much between colours. Is there a difference in sound quality between these limited edition versions and the normal K518 DJ's?

I'm gonna guess that the only difference is the color, and the reason for the price varying so much is just that they produced a certain amount of each color, and the other colors just haven't sold as much. Supply and demand. Again, just a guess.

The cable of the DJs ist longer, than the one on the LEs.

Both are still excellent for "on the go listening" tho,...but I'd prefer 1 meter or so.

If i was to attempt re-cabling them, how difficult would that be/ how much would a decent cable cost?

Well, easiest and most cost efficient would be to do something like this to just shorten the cord instead of actually full on recabling it.

lol I just got them in the mail, they have a 1m cord, It's actually a little shorter than im used to, but I don't think that I will have any problems with it.

I got the DJs and they are quite nice.
Especially because I feel no pain, from their rather stiff clamp.

I just ordered a pair myself,...WTF! I have all these cans, but no truly "portable" set. This should suffice IMO.

These things sound fantastic!!! Quite easy to power (re: LOUD!!!), light weight, and contrary to popular belief - the clamping force is just right for mobile activities!!! These things truly ROCK!!!
