I recently bought myself a pair of JVC HA-FXC80 IEMs as a sub for my excellent Panasonic HJE900 IEMs when I'm out cycling. The Panasonics set me back £200 at the London Apple retail store and the SQ of them are absolutely beautiful. However I couldn't believe my ears when I tried on my recently bought JVC HA-FXC80. The SQ of them through my Sony S639F is very close to the SQ of the Panasonic HJE900 through the same DAP and what is even more unbelievable is that they only set me back £30. The highs on the JVC IEMs are very similar to my Panasonics and so too are the mids but I feel the bass isn't as tight and clear but the bass is still good enough. Anyway I would highly recommend those IEMs to anyone on a tight budget who is looking for excellent Hi-Fi SQ.

I have the JVC HA-FXC50 which is micro-driver IEM like the HA-FXC80. They were surprising good for the price, especially the treble. But their down fall was their poor build quality. The JVC logos fell off after a few days and cables which are the thinest I have ever seen--and not in a good way. I do not think JVC still makes them, so maybe the FXC80 is an updated model? I would be curious to know how that stack up against the slightly more expensive MEElectronics CC51 which also uses a micro-driver and seems to be well liked on that other site--one reason why I think the A151 has not gotten more attention.

I'm interested in some more opinions on these. If they sound nearly as good as the HJE900's then I could stand to drop the dough for a pair of beaters.

^ Indeed! I concur with Syndrome - these sound promising and a cheapo, good sounding pair of beaters is always a good thing to have around. Especially if they have a [basically] similar sound sig to the Panas.

I remember your posting when you got the Panas at that crazy price.
I'm glad you've found something much cheaper which sounds (almost) the same. |
