Unhappy Zund HD cant "be read"

My Zune seems to not be able to connect to my computer, internet, or marketplace. I've tried holding down the power button and the power + media buttons to reset it, but the problem persists . My computer only gives me an error message when connected that says important files cant be read. Also , when i open the internet , my zune freezes and tring to connect to a network just sits there "connecting". Any help would be gladly appreciated!

As a last-ditch effort, you can try holding the media and home buttons. This deletes EVERYTHING from the device. All media, cookies, history, apps, firmware, everything. I'm surprised that just reloading the firmware didn't do the trick.

Much luck,

Well thanks for the help. I'm going to see if I cant get it to work, if not, ill do that. As far as reloading the firmware, it will restart but after I've finished updating, I need to restart it to get it off the connected screen, and it goes back to not working

I am having the exact same issue. It is so frustrating...

Have you found a solution or the way to reset it to completely factory settings?

Hold the media and home buttons at the same time. Wipes the entire device.

This worked. Thanks. Now I just have to put all of my music back on the device...Is there any way to make a backup on Zune? Such a pain...

Well, theoretically, you could have added all your music to a playlist and synced said playlist to your computer, but too late for that.

Oh, did you try doing a firmware reinstall first (holding media and power buttons), which doesn't delete your data?

You can 'reverse sync' your Zune easily by going into the Device section of the software and selecting a single album or artist from your Music view, then pressing Ctrl+A to select all of them, then drag them to the Collection icon at the bottom left. You can also do this with Pictures, Movies and Apps.

But, I'm not sure that's what the OP was trying to do? This method won't save any of your high scores or level progressions in apps and games, unfortunately. But it is extremely useful if you are moving/reformatting your computer.
