Default Egad! More speculation!

Hate to bring more speculation back, just when we were pretty well away from it...

But, as many of you probably noticed from the ABi>> homepage story, Zunes have come down in price. Again.

And I noticed someone over at zuneboards speculating that it could mean a new Zune is in the works.

I personally think that this idea is way off the mark.

Thoughts?

Eh, I think it's just getting older. They may be clearing out stock, but that doesn't mean they'll make a new device... Could just mean they're winding down the HD.

I just think that they are overstocked with too many and trying to get rid of them all.

The whole market is reacting to the current economy. Creative slashed the prices on its brand new android players. PMPs are luxury items, and when money is tight an easy thing to go without. I'd love to see MS take a new swat at a Zune player though.

Yeah, it seems like if they tried making a 2nd generation, it would be pretty good, considering all of the feedback they've been getting.

That's assuming they listen to the feedback.

Haha I think they've been listening pretty well with Zune, at least.

Well, we can always hope. If they did come out with something new, I would assume it would come to market around fall.

So looks like the economy is continuing to go shit. But I'm not all that surprised since electronic prices decrease over time

In addition to the economy, even Microsoft knows that if people had $220 to spend they would find another $10 and get an iPod, even if it has half the storage. No one would pay full price for a product that old (and frankly so crippled by its firmware it can't compete); I'm suprised that the 64gb held full price for so long. It's reached a low enough price that it can even compete with the ultralight iPod Nano, I'm sure the HD price reductions have cut into iPod sales. Exactly what MS wants.

Got my 64 Gig (with the AV Dock Kit & Cables etc) for less than $250 delivered & Tax etc (no tax in MAssachusetts). Still can get it at Provantage dot com, but they are all out of the Kits. It says special order.

Don't know about trying to get rid of them, though. Seems like whenever they release a large memory device, the smaller memory ones prices get chopped. Just like RAM for the computer. Got to Crucial dot com, and most DDR2 RAM boards under 4 gig or so are way, way down in price.

Probably because DDR3 is the current tech, and DDR2 is not necessarily outdated, but no longer top of the line.
