It doesn't list AAC as a supported format on the Cowon site.

I just tried loading one on mine and it plays....but it's an .m4a that I stripped from a video....I've never bought any music on iTunes. See image below for details.

I replaced all my iTunes music files and music videos with ones from Zune and then some. They sound much better. Apple puts all their audio through some LOUDNESS WARS processing before it gets encoded. If that's what floats your boat though...
