Okay, i guess my understanding of extended bass might be different then others. Could someone elaborate on "extended" bass for me?
Also, i am liking the Panas, but i can't really find them anywhere for less then the Westones, and if I'm going to be pushing out ~$270 for headphones i would probably choose the Westones over the Panas because of the comfort. |

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but extension simply just means how low does the bass goes (can be heard at decent quantity and quality). For example phones can actually go down to 30 Hz or even 20 Hz.

Oh okay thank you, I was taking a more literal interpretation of it. But I think that would be considered more textured. Thank you very much for the explanation!
I like the Panas, but if I'm going to pay that much for them then I might as well grab the Westones as I like them better. Anyone else suggest any other IEM's? |

If you are ready to shell out close to $300, I'd look at FX700. To me, it is the best dynamic IEM I've heard so far. It can do all genres well, but has a bit of emphasis at both ends. I consider it a natural upgrade over the Panas + some more. But it won't isolate, which is one important thing to consider. Reading reviews, it may not look like your ideal signature, but then I haven't come across anyone disliking the FX700 so far.

Well, those phones look like they would be hard to find, and the isolation would be an issue as I will be using these in quiet environments as well.

$270!? USD? I got mine for 80... But that was a while ago, and I know you can't find any that low. But there should be the Panas ones readily available at around 140. I'll go do a quick search...
EDIT: Soooo, a quick google search turned this up. Panasonic RP-HJE900 for $129.00. |

i own the A151 too... reviewed on this forum :P they dont have extended bass, but they are still textured, punchy, and not at all recessed, and for $75... wow.
also mentioning comfortm, i just wore them for around 16 hours on a bus without any comfort issues what so ever. they are super comfortable and super durable, the cable is one of the best i have ever seen, tangle free, light, almost like string but still retaining strength. check them out,.... |

Hmm, I'll have to think about it more. For others, are the Westone's $200 better then the A151's? Also, as far as that quick google search goes I had found that same website. But if you look at the bottom line, it says discontinued. Pretty much anywhere with reasonable prices is discontinued. Unfortunately

The Westone UM2 you keep mentioning has been out for a while.
I'd suggest if you want something nice go straight to the top.

Okay, so I have been doing some thinking. What I think I'm going to do is get a much cheaper pair of buds (<$50) for now, then save up some money when I get a job and over the summer to get some nice IEM's and a nice player. What do you guys think of that? Also, what are some recommendations for IEM's under $50?

Okay, thank you all very much for the help! I think I'm going to take Confispect's and just get something really nice. But not right now, I'm thinkin' of saving up for a really nice set. For now, I'll just grab an MP3 player, and continue to use the phone's I have now. Maybe get some new tips for them.
Thank you all so very much! |

maximo 590s are a good option at 450 according to popular opinion around here. I haven't tried them yet, but might soon.

^ +1. For the original price I got em at [42USD], I continue to find the Maximo i590s an excellent mid-range IEM. I heard they went up to like 59USD. Still worth it IMO but not quite so competitive now, especially with apparently quality stuff from MEElectronics and others.
Go here to be even more confused and read up on the Maximo i590s. http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/...m2-added-04-16

Does not sound like the OP is still looking for IEM of any price, but for what is worth, Amazon has the A151 on sale right now for $50 ($25 off).

Okay, so I actually am thinkin' about maybe grabbing a inexpensive pair to get me by as i have forgotten just how beat up my current pair where. Just ordered a Clip+ 4gig and a 16gig SD card for $50, and I'm now looking for a good pair of inexpensive phones. So, would you all recommend the Maximo iMetal iM-590's? Or would the MEElectronics A151-BK's be better?
