Archos 5IT Screen and Battery

The battery no longer holds a charge and now the screen seems to be falling out of the case. callled tech support and it would cost less to buy a new one. looking for parts.

Alright i opened the unit up and found that the battery was swelling and pushing the screen off. so now i need help finding a replacement battery or a way to power it without the battery as a temp fix until i can find a battery. it has a small board on it any help, if i take the board off the battery i have a DVR dock for power any suggestions or getting the unit to think it has the battery.

Yeah, sorry, but you might as well just buy another one. Fixing something like that is best left to someone that is very good with electronics and has the proper equipment for it.

If you just need to get files off of it, plug it in and get them while you can.

Otherwise, toss it and get something else. Incidentally, this sort of thing is why I actually did get the extended warranty from the store I bought it at.

I found a battery that is a little bigger but with a little case modifing i managed to replace the battery. I removed the circuit board from the old battery and installed it on the new battery, the cost of the battery was only $16 plus shipping. The new battery will last longer than the first and i don't have to throw away the archos.
