Default Cannot connect to Software, Wi-Fi, cannot restore

Hi All,

On a serious note - My zune HD has been playing up recently, and this has never happened before.

When connecting to the software, it sometimes connects but I can not exchange files and get this error message - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950446/en-us

I have followed all steps on the guide, but not being able to restore the device as after i connect it to the computer to reinstall the firmware, it crashes and i have to restart the zune. When it boots up, all my data is present (?) and i still cannot sync.

I have also tried to delete all files via the software, but as i cannot connect this is not working.

I cannot connect to sync or use wi-fi, however can use my player completely fine otherwise.
I also do not wish to send it in for repair as I live in the UK.

Please please please, if there are any solutions I would love to hear!!

Many thanks in advance,

James

Things to try, go from top to bottom:

1) Uninstall and reinstall PC client.

2) Press and hold the power and media buttons until the Zune tells you to reconnect to the software. This erases your firmware, but not your content.

3) Press and hold the media and home buttons (while the Zune is on) until the same thing as above happens. This erases the player completely. You MAY have to hold all three buttons to get this to work.

4) Call Zune support, and if they ask you to do these things, tell them you have, and see if they have other suggestions.

4.5) If the support tells you so, send it in for repair if it's under warranty. It's 100% free (they pay shipping and everything). If your Zune is more than a year old, your warranty has expired. There are repair places on the internet, one that has been referred to often is Rapid Repair. I have not used them personally, but several people on this website have, and swear by them.

5) Start looking for a new one, or a new player altogether. In this event, ABi will gladly help, I'm sure.

You're quite welcome. This is pretty much the fix for any problem you could be having with your Zune.

What kind of a pony would I be if I asked for something in return?
