I did not mean that the zo sounded bad with any player just is a good match in size and battery life with the clip+

I recently bought the Zo online from Sharper Image for $87 and free shipping. I'm really excited by the reviews I've been reading about it!

I just got my ZO yesterday and I must say that I LOVE that little thing now! I showed it off to some friends at a party that night and everyone wore a surprised face whenever I turned it on.

I do have a little issue with mine, though. Sometimes, the ZO gives off a large amount of hiss that is audible throughout quiet songs if it is angled in certain ways, but angling it slightly different seems to get rid of it quickly. Anyone else with a ZO have this issue?

k5r2an what are you using it with? If it's a phone, the device might be prone to RF signals is my guess.

I use it with Super.Fi v2 and a Clip+. It might be worth noting that the packaging that the ZO came in wasn't in the most pristine condition. Also, the issue seems to have fixed itself since last night, or at least it hasn't happened to me so far.

EDIT: Nope, it just happened again. It's not happening as often, though.

What made me think RF signal was your statement "if it is angled in certain ways, but angling it slightly different seems to get rid of it quickly," are you near any broad cast towers? Cell, radio, etc ...

Not that I know of, but the problem seems to have spontaneously fixed itself now. I twisted the ZO around trying to replicate the hissing, but it doesn't do it anymore! The ZO is so amazing that it has its own tech support built into it hahaha

I had something like that once. Turned the Clip+ on, then the ZO - resulting in ridiculous amounts of hiss. Unplugged the cable between the ZO and the Clip, then replugged - and all was back to normal. No idea what could have caused that hiccup.

Sounds like that isn't RF then, as I said only a guess :|

The digizoid people have hinted that the stock cable may be hissing with some units.

I've been using quality cables, didn't even try the flimsy stock cables.

Huh, I noticed that when I change songs on my Clip, there's a little screech at the beginning. It's barely audible, however, and it's only audible when you change to a track with a silent beginning (eg Goodbye Blue Sky - Pink Floyd).

EDIT: Also, plugging the ZO into my laptop results in so much hiss, I feel like I'm listening to white noise.

The FiiO L2 looks good for a prefab cable, it should have sufficient shielding as well: http://bit.ly/mcoao7

Or the L8, if you prefer angled plugs: http://bit.ly/ffTrGE
