Default Closed headphones with equivalent sq of HD555?

Hi there!

A friend in the office has tried my hd555 and he loves the sound. He wants to buy similar headphones but a closed version, 'cuz he doesn't want to bother people around when he listens to the same song over and over again for three hours (yes he often does that lol).

Oh, he needs no noise-cancelling, just isolation.

Any advice? His budget is around $90 USD.

Thanks!

I doubt it but I too would like to know if that is possible? There might be some headphone that may sound similar to your hd555 but I doubt that he will get the wider soundstage typical from “open style” headphones VS “closed style.” Although with closed he should have stronger bass response.

Denon is known for being really, really good at closed headphones so perhaps that is worth checking out. For example, the AH-D510 is in that price range, and if he's willing to go a bit higher, the AH-D1100 is getting some glowing reviews praising its "warm, relaxed, audiophile sound".
