How many times do you have to fail before you get it right? Sure folks make mistakes but three times in a row? Thats just crazy.

The whole thing needs to change. From top to bottom.

im not sold on this yet. by zune devices they could mean any number of things not a zune handheld.

which version of dos made it big? 5.0 (maybe even earlier)
which version of windows became popular? version 3.1
which newer version of windows? 95/98
which version of NT? 4.0
which version of word beat out wordstar, and wordperfect? a much later windows version
when did exel beat out lotus 1-2-3? a much later version
which version of internet explorer beat out mosaic/netscape? version 4

there's no need to talk about any recent types of software,
because microsoft is already entrenched as the leader...

i could go on and on about many things that microsoft has
tried to do, and had to do many versions to get it right, and
beat out the competitors... they've even made several revisions
of hardware items that fall into this category..

i wouldn't be too worried about them trying again..
they have plenty of money/time/resources, it's just if
they feel like putting a lot of effort into it.. then you'll
see some results.. otherwise....

Its odd that they said wp7 and Zune devices since wp7 was the Zune hardware for this year I kind of thought from what Dave has said here that they were the same thing.

WP7 was the hardware update this year, but I think MS just wants to designate that Zunes can be independent of WP7.

When I first got my Zune 64HD Original and posted a pic of it the first response was something like "enjoy your "dead" Zune".
Pretty sure if I trolled the Cowon J3 forum and jumped into every thread spewing how overpriced it is and how the audiobook and podcast support sucks I would probably get banned. Why is it ok here?

I think it has to do with the initial expectations of the device. I was expecting the HD to compete with the itouch, but it has'nt. It does many thing well, but nothing great. The j3 on the other hand has outstanding sound quality, a freaking unreal EQ, and tactile buttons. IMHO, as far as expectations, the HD has been a failure, and the j3 a big winner.

Well as for me.When I got my Zune HD 2 years ago,it was awesome but after I was exposed to better alternatives for my needs,it wasn't that great and I regretted getting it instead of a Cowon S9 for my needs. Mine just stays inside the same original box that it came in now. I learned to hate using software for my music and missed simply organizing and managing music by folders,which is why I love alternatives that gives me those options,like my Sansa Fuze.Custom EQ wasn't needed for me back then but it is useful to have now after learning that I do need it.

I regretted buying my ZuneHD a little when I found out it can't have a YouTube app. And that it won't get another firmware update. And when I found out how long it takes just to submit an app. Also right when I bought it I didn't realize how few apps it had and that it didn't have an open marketplace. But I do love the software and the ui on the device way better than iPod touch and itunes. I just don't get what the Zunehd team is doing all day? Dave said apps are their main focus but they really don't have that many. They are like the slowest app developers in the world or they just sit around waiting for someone to send them somthing (which I doubt considering how long it takes to get an app submited).
End of rant.
Now if they do release a new Zune it would be awesome if they had a trade in program where I could trade in my old ZuneHD for my new Zune(7)(hd2)(hd7)(ect...) running wp7 with all the apps and I would never regret buying my pretty but under achieving ZuneHD.
