Lightbulb Here's A List Of Apps I Want On Zune HD

1. YouTube ... With a Tegra chip, Zune HD would do great if they had YouTube
2. Netflix ... Again, a Tegra chip + Netflix & YouTube = Amazing
3. Foursquare
4. Calendar
5. Contacts
6. Notes
7. Text Free ... I have text, but sometimes, i don't want people texting that number
8. E-Mail Client ... i would like to check email without having to go on the fail browser for Zune

Updates that i would like for the Zune HD current apps...

1. Facebook
... it lags horribly
... notifications load, but you can only click on the name, not the post they commented on, or what they posted on your wall
... you can't search for people
... you can't view pages
... you can't like comments
... you can't poke others

2. Windows Live Messenger
... it lags miserably also

3. Twitter
... it shows a lot of errors

*if* there ever is an update for Zune HD, here i what my list of things that i would like to be on there

1. Silverlight ... if that is possible
2. Flash ... i know iPod doesn't even have this, but Zune HD could kill iPod if they have flash
3. Updated browser
... tabs
... faster full webpage load times
... less lag
... less crashes
3. Multi-Tasking
... i know this probably won't come to Zune HD anytime soon because Windows Phone doesn't even have this feature
4. Faster app load times!
... we shouldn't wait 7 seconds to open a simple calculator app

Thats it! Zune HD is an amazing product and i know it can do *some* of these...

All of these things have been said for months, ESPECIALLY Youtube and Netflix which won't come to the Zune HD anytime soon. Updates are being worked on by their devs, flash and silverlight are a no-go so no browser Youtube and because of the outdated IE6 browser, and just keep wishing for apps you want. They come every month.

I dont think windows phone 7 has flash either. i hope that big app that dave did closed testing on is an email client. we cold really use tabs too. i wonder if the textfree people would do a zune version. biggest game ive ever wanted to have would be civilozation revolution, a great game, even if it costs money, maybe they would make a wp7 version? This is one of the reasons i might consider a 3ds or an ipod touch. foursquare is kind of useless imo though, you would need wifi, and if youre moving around then... Zune hd is always put up against the ipod touch, when really it compares to the nano more, even in price now. I read an article about this a while ago, back before they shrunk the nano.

Thumb Up

1. YouTube ... With a Tegra chip, Zune HD would do great if they had YouTube
2. Netflix ... Again, a Tegra chip + Netflix & YouTube = Amazing -This should have been standard from the get-go

Updates that i would like for the Zune HD current apps...

1. Facebook
... it lags horribly Yeah, takes forever to load thumbnails, and pictures in the picture viewer
... notifications load, but you can only click on the name, not the post they commented on, or what they posted on your wall
-UGH this is the worst bug on the entire Zune HD itself. It's been almost a year since its been doing this and STILL hasn't been fixed.
... you can't search for people
... you can't view pages
... you can't like comments
... you can't poke others

2. Windows Live Messenger
... it lags miserably also
-somewhat, the worst thing I think is wrong with it is the Social section never updates itself. You have to leave the app and relaunch if you want to see updated information on it. Also the Video tab..just sitting there..teasing..

3. Twitter
... it shows a lot of errors
I thought mine was just corrupted and needed a simple reinstall. Guess not -_-

*if* there ever is an update for Zune HD, here i what my list of things that i would like to be on there

1. Silverlight ... if that is possible
2. Flash ... i know iPod doesn't even have this, but Zune HD could kill iPod if they have flash -not gonna happen.
3. Updated browser
... tabs yes please omg
... faster full webpage load times THIS
... less lag
... less crashes <<<<<< THIS x100000
3. Multi-Tasking
... i know this probably won't come to Zune HD anytime soon because Windows Phone doesn't even have this feature
4. Faster app load times!

Dave says that the Zune HD's firmware is not capable of streaming video.

So unless there is a major firmware update, don't count on youtube or netflix.

Firmware...!
Unfortunately, i dont think the new firmware petiton will work, and it certainly wont bring microsoft any more customers. Maybe if they see how much a lack of this stuff kills their business they'll make a new zune? We can dream.

I am confused. The iPod Touch has a dedicated You Tube app supplied with the player and it's browser is not flashed based. Why can't the Zune HD have the same?

I also see no reason to why the Zune HD can't stream videos from youtube, even my laggy Nokia 5800 can do it.

If Zune HD had .3gp support for the browser, we wouldn't need a YouTube app, we could watch it right from the browser via. mobile YouTube

It is not the browser, it is the FIRMWARE.

The firmware is not capable of streaming video! Dave said so.

Don't make me repeat this.

It might have more to do with licensing than code. Licensing costs more than coding so it's more of a waste on a product which doesn't have much of a future.

I can really say that MS didn't use this device to its full potential. That Tegra processor isn't being used much except for games. Didn't NVIDIA say that the Tegra 1 was optimized to handle Flash?

Ah, yes you can... just click on the thumbs up icon below the comment.

Although I do agree with most of the other comments you said, but...
Netflix... hmmm, don't see that happening.
And as for YouTube I see an app coming but don't see it happening on the browser because of the limitations of the firmware.

LOOK PEOPLE. THE HD ONLY HAS 128 MB OF RAM. THAT IS NOT ENOUGH TO STREAM VIDEO. WON'T HAPPEN. NUH UH. NO WAY. STOP. THE. DENIAL.

... Ok now that that's off my chest, let's get down to it.

Most of your requests besides the YouTube/Netflix are no brainers like the notepad and calendar.

Yes, the facebook app is horribly crippled. But, that's an issue for the facebook team to fix, Zune team didn't dev that app. However, why not just use the mobile version in the browser? It works perfectly fine...

Again, with Windows Live Messenger, a work around to the app is ebuddy.com. (Although you would hope that MS could get their own products to work well together... )

Silverlight is not possible and will not happen.

There is a good reason that the iPod doesn't have flash. And it can't and won't happen on the Zune. I also wouldn't hold my breath for it to come to the iPod either. html5, though... Won't happen on this Zune, but if there's a next one, maybe, and it's only a matter of time before it comes to the iPod.

Now, the browser. I can understand wanting tabs (I definitely do!) and speed can always be improved. However, I'm not sure what you all are doing with your browser that makes it "crash." I've never had my browser crash on me...

Multi-tasking would be an adventure... You all complain about the lag and speed of the device, then ask for multi-tasking? Expecting to be able to add tasks and even MAINTAIN speed is an unreal expectation.

Start up times could definitely be reduced across the board.

The 1st and 2nd Generation iPod Touch's had 128MB of RAM and still had a netflix app. So that's no excuse. Neither is the rest of the hardware, as the iPod Touch was released with a 400Mhz processor, compared to the Zune HD's Tegra APX 2600 which runs up to 600MHz.

Microsoft,
While you're doing all those updates, which you blatantly are, could you add an app that can make the Zune transform into Optimus Prime?
Thanks.

Hm... Well, never having used either of those, I'm guessing here when I say that geez that must've been choppy. UNLESS it was set up to use virtual RAM... But I highly doubt that. Eh, but think about it. Only being able to buffer less than 128 MB of video at a time... I'm gonna assume those were pausing every couple of minutes or so to buffer...

What Eddie says is correct. Netflix was available for the iPod Touch for a long time, and from what I've heard, is as smooth as silk. A situation like this is what probably irks most Zune owners.
