how do i remove the SlotRadio icon and advertisement from the Sansa Clip+

Either ignore it, or install Rockbox.

You can find the clpp_data.dat file in MSC mode and delete that to get rid of the audio part of the ad. That's a mislabeled .mp3 file.

For the icon Marv's got the only way.

This didn't quite work for me. If I delete the file, and reflash, the slot radio still has the sound. However, if I was able to get it to work by editing clpp_data.dat with notepad and removing its contents and just putting a space in there (an empty file may work too). Once I reflashed, the slot radio no longer has any sound.

So, it seems like if there is no file there, it somehow still defaults to the standard slotradio audio but if you put a file there, then it tries to use it. If it is empty then there will not be any sound.

There's no need to reflash the firmware after deleting the clpp_data.dat file. That's just what I said it is, a mislabeled .mp3 file. After that's deleted there's no audio ad.
