I own the S4's and have found them to be quite remarkable. At first I heard the horrible sibilance in the high frequencies. Originaly I thought a burn in would fix it.

That wasn't the case.. it was simply because I was wearing them wrong. I decided to slip on the smaller plugs and rotated the plug a little until it sat just right in my ear, boom. No more sibilance, nice frequencies, and lots of bass. I don't think theres anything super about them, but after owning the grado 60's and senhiser 280 pros, the S4's are right up there with being a really good sounding $59 pair of IEMs.

I wouldn't risk my money on the Hippos. I bought a pair of Crossroads (same company) Bijou 3s a couple years ago and the sound was gone in both channels within a week of light use. Still waiting for them to respond to my email.

BuckToof: Welcome to ABi and sorry for your woes, but you are in the singular minority in terms of both customer care from Jaben and the relative quality of the Hippo products. My own VBs are 9 months old and still look and sound like new.

The fact is Jaben has demonstrated repeatedly for members here that they will absolutely do the right thing for their customers, going so far as to even ship free bonus headphones to people who experience delays in receiving their initial order.

I would ping them again or perhaps reconsider your stance on the VBs. They are incredible basshead IEMs for those so inclined and you may be missing out based on experience that is several years old.

Still, your money, your ears, your prerogative of course

BuckToof lestatar is right, I've never had a problem with Uncle Wilson or staff, as stated it may take a till time but they will make it up for you, just remember be a little patient they're celebrating.

Also BuckToof, If I remember correctly from ABi's review of the Bijou vs. the VBs, I'm pretty sure they said build quality was poor on the Bijou, but much better with the VB. I can't remember 100% if this is accurate, but I'm sorry for your problems.

Hey Relyt...fyi, the Sony Hybrids fit on the VBs. Might take a tiny bit of elbow grease, but I promise you they do fit.

I believe most standard IEM replacement tips should fit the VBs, but wait for more educated folks to confirm first.

Yes, most standard tips do fit. I've got some that I'm using instead for right now.

I'm asking because I just liked the Hippo VB tips a lot and none of the other ones I have compare :P

^ lol. Gotcha. Funny, I found the VB tips a bit too largish and kinda squarish in my ears.

Were I back in the states, I would prolly send you my set for free - sorry man. Still, try getting in touch with Uncle Wilson - he may be able to help you out, hopefully at minimal to no cost.
