Default M-Audio BX5a for $150, Can I do Better?

I sold my Logitech X-540 surround sound system on Craigslist during the summer with the intention of getting a decent pair of stereo speakers since I listen to music more than I watch movies and play games. Today I found a pair of M-Audio BX5a Deluxe for $150. I was not planning on spending that much, but it seems like a good price (about half price). So my question is, can I do better for $150? I really do not want to stretch my budget any more than that since I was really only looking to spend the $75 I got out of X-540. Any suggestions? (BTW, I am not an audiophile, I just want something that sounds better than Logitech.)

EDIT: I guess I should add my listening preferences. I mostly listen to rock. I am not a basshead, I just want to hear the bass. I prefer to to listen at low volumes.
Players: 4 GB Sansa Clip | 32 GB iPod touch (4th generation)
Headphones: Audio-Technica ATH-M50 IEM: MEElectronics A151, M6 and M9P
