Default Album Art Work Problems

Hi!
I know there a billion album art work problem threads out there..
i've read them all..

So i'll explain in the full story below and short story first! haha

Short Story:
Cowon J3
Using Windows
Have FLAC, AAC (M4A), MP3 file types
Used the cover.jpg method for ALL MUSIC.
Organized Artists/Albums/Tracks w/cover.jpg
Put Music on J3,
Only some of the album artworks worked.

Long Story!
Started using itunes (i know..) and an ipod classic to deal with my many cds quite a while back.. imported them all with itunes not realizing it was importing them in m4a file format.
i imported over 60 cds over my ipod years..
ipod gets stolen, and i found this site!
researched, learned, bought myself a clip+ while i saved up,
and bought my cowon j3!
since AAC files are supported on the cowon j3, i didn't think i'd have to convert anything..

Can anyone help!?

I can provide screenshots of anything and i'll be checking back all the time since i know everyone on this site is super helpful and actually knows what they're talking about!

Thanks.
Sorry for the repetitive topic...

EDIT: PS: haha love how both the long and short story are the same length.. just tried to find a way to put it simply..

I guess you didn't read *all* album art issue threads... Make sure your JPEGs are baseline, not progressive. Either redownload the album art from a better source, or convert the ones you have with Faststone or Irfanview.

Also!
Is there anyway the J3 would be confused by embedded artwork with the cover.jpg for the same file?
cause i did the cover.jpg for all my music and now i'm embedding is with mp3tag.

will that cause a problem?

Hey, I don't have a J3, but I am not sure it would be a good idea to use both cover.jpg AND embedded artwork.

Don't know for sure, but I would not be surprised if this causes players to be confused. Then again, perhaps it might work on the J3 - no idea...

That's definitely what i was thinking..
I had Itunes embed a lot of artwork a while ago..

I think i'm going to get rid of all the embedded artwork for AAC and FLAC
and get rid of all the cover.jpg for mp3.

Sorry to ask again but,
how do i know if its a baseline or progressive jpg?

I would have recommended MediaInfo but I just tested it and it doesn't seem to provide such information. What you can do as an alternative is to check whether your cover.jpg shows up in J3 or not. If it doesn't, it's mots likely progressive, hehe.

No, it won't be confused. The embedded art has priority over the cover.jpg, so the embedded one will be displayed.

It seems iTunes likes to embed progressive JPEGs though, as I gathered from other threads - so if the album art won't show up, use a different source for your embedded art.
