Default Cowon J3 Movie File Conversion?

I had my D2 for a few years, and I decided to buy the J3 this Christmas. It's enroute, but I was wondering: do I have to push video through the JetAudio video converter like I had to with my D2?

It depends on what format your videos is in already. I had to run all my files through SUPER, Handbrake or AutoGK before I could use them on my J3. Most of my videos is now in Xvid / H.264 format (*.avi) which the J3 plays very nicely (though I haven't tested any videos longer than a few minutes).

If I have the videos in .avi already, do I have to convert them?
My D2 couldn't read the .avi until it was processed through Jet Audio...

The *.avi container works on J3, but you need to be sure that your videos is encoded in either DivX, H.264 or Xvid if they need to work. Other formats might work too, but I cannot currently remember them though. To find out what format your video is encoded in, try open them in MediaInfo.

I use Ilove or Any Video Converter. Both are free. I cant stand Jet audio (even worse now that you have to pay for it). Im not a techno person so I need really simple stuff. The above are. plus you get full screen- no bars.
