Not that sure if any of you are aware, but there's a new firmware available for the Touch and most the rest of the iPod line that is supposed to fix the battery drain issue of IOS5.

I grabbed it....not sure if I notice any difference or not, to be honest. But that could be due to the fact that I don't always have the wi-fi on.

Not sure if I'll upgrade or not. If they fixed the terrible performance issues I ran into then I might upgrade. But then again, I'm really enjoying my current jailbreak .....

Meh, iOS 5.0.1 has not helped my issues - it's slowed the device down heaps.

I liked the delta update feature, although it killed me when it said to "connect to wifi to download". I mean seriously, why pay for data when I am being forced NOT to use it.

Thanks for the heads up, looks like I won't be upgrading yet.

I thought the same thing when I went to 5.0.....and then once I shut it completely down and restarted it , it was fine.

I've done plenty of restarts on my phone, but nothing seems to help. I like the features that iOS5 has, but the toll on my phone is not ideal.

Hmmm....I wonder if it is just because yours is the previous generation model? I don't know how much of a difference there is spec-wise, asides from the retina display on the newer model.

It would have to be - but then again, they have removed sooo many aspects of the OS so it is able to be run on the older models (3Gs and 4), but it's just little annoying things.

Same on my iPad, there is a difference in speed that is really getting to me. Not all that impressed. Oh well, shit happens. It'll be ironed out by iOS6 at a guess

I was glad there was no Touch update this fall.....no temptation to buy something I can't afford....lol. Next year though, who knows?

Siri getting to be your friend?

I tried Siri the other day at the Apple store. It had a LOT of trouble differentiating some things. It never understood my k's, thinking they were t's, and just generally failed at some of my phrases.

And that was 5.0.1 with the additions of Apple trying to decipher what Australians say.

Well I decided to upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 since there will soon be an untethered jailbreak for it.

So far my pod is actually working great . No lags at all except still a little in cover flow which isn't really a big deal since I don't use it much. I will be looking forward to the jailbreak, and am glad that Apple has improved the performance.

edit - ouch, never mind, guess it might be a while now: http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/2720...release-a4.htm

Pod2g, has now made it clear that the recently found and tested untethered jailbreak for A4 devices will not be released until a jailbreak for A5 devices is found.
Why wait when there's far more A4 users?

Ok I've run into a little issue here.

So as you all know I recently upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 because I thought there would soon be an untethered jailbreak....

But, as Machiventa has pointed out, there won't be at least for a while.

I've been disappointed with the performance of the update. My device is still slow and freezes often even after a full restart.

Does anyone know of a way to downgrade to a 4.X firmware from 5.0.1 without saved SHSH blobs? I read this which unfortunately says that I may not be able to downgrade at all.

Thanks guys for the help.....
