Interesting how a conversation about iPods degenerates into discussion about les being a tranny.

Once you get an iPod in the hand you just realize all the fear you had was unfounded. And lestatar has never owned an iPod, so those of you that refuse the dark side BECOME a tranny candidate. You know who you are, talking crap - as usual.

iPods are fine,just that the included earphones are meant to be thrown into a fire or better yet set on fire lol

I don't hate iPods nonsensically. I have owned em, and I don't like the interface at all, and think they are way overpriced.

Accordingly, I hereby declare my un-candidacy for being a tranny.

Without trying the touch controls on a fighting game you really don't know how good it is. Street Fighter 4 on ios is AMAZING, it's responsive, accurate, easy to use and just overall very good. As a very good SF4 player on 360/arcade i give it two thumbs up.

Well, they are overpriced in Europe, not in US

ipod 4g 64GB in US -> $364.99 amazon.com
ipod 4G 64GB in EU -> $480.22 amazon.uk
ipod 4G 64GB in EU -> $512.75 amazon.de

They are very, very overpriced in Europe as you can see.
I like ipod and I don't care about tranny disease, I'm immune, just because I'm an handsom basterd

TBH i came to abi because i disliked head-fi and liked what dfkt posted over there, which lead me here. I'm not here because i was looking for ipod alternatives, but because of the quality of poster here is better. I still can't understand the negativity toward the ipod, especially from people who use crap like the Zune or anything other than the J3.

Again, my crap is price based. When I got my HD which was very close after its release, I got it for 20 dollars less than an iPod touch with half the storage. (My HD = 16GB Touch alternative = 8GB)

My adversity to it is that people hail it as the single greatest thing that ever existed. They don't know of anything else, or if they do, they instantly write it off as garbage.

True, a lot of things don't stack up with iPods. They are pretty good pieces of hardware. Not everyone needs a jack of all trades for a huge sum, though. I'm a proponent of alternative PMPs because I am an opponent of ignorance.

(And I may be oh so slightly hipster-ish... )

What does it matter what some people think about a device though? Being averse to a device because some people think its the greatest thing ever is ignorant as hell, and being an opponent of ignorance i have no idea how you can't see that, maybe it's the hipster glassed blocking your vision lol.

Letting other people's preferences affect you is one of the saddest things about society today, no one has an original thought anymore.

... I have no idea where you're pulling these conclusions from. The fact that everyone blindly follows them has made me want to show people that there are other options. THAT'S why I oppose them. I personally use other PMPs because they suit my needs better. I don't understand how you're getting it confused and thinking that I got my Zune and my Sansas purely because I don't want an iPod. I also have an iPod. There is no correlation between me buying other devices and everyone loving iPods. 0.o

Well, TBH - they all suck. Each has a pro, each has a con. I'm just against blind fanboi'izm!!! Otherwise, it's all about what suits you best.

My only gripe with most people, as steinburger1109 has pointed out, is how most just say "X is best" and really have no idea WTF their talking about. Try other devices, try to teach others about what's available, let them decide by making an EDUCATED decision. There is no "wrong" choice,...but there's also no "bestest" device!!!

How else am i supposed to interpret that? You disprove of a device based on what the masses think of it. My conclusion wasn't off base by any means, and i was pointing out that i found it ironic that you took the anti-ignorance stance while swimming in it yourself by posting stuff like that.

What the masses think about a device, company, brand, whatever has no bearing on it's quality. In fact disliking a product because so many people blindly like it makes you as ignorant they are.

That was my point.

I think what Adub is saying is that it doesn't matter if the masses like or dislike gear, as long as the owner is happy. If anybody purchases or doesn't purchase gear based on the masses, that's ignorance on the buyer, and that's usually based on blind fanboyism from the population.

As for me, it doesn't matter how gear is liked or disliked, as long as it suits my needs.

As for me,I just absolutely NEED MSC support and folder support,I cannot do without either one now with the way all my music is organized. This is why I have to go for a product that can be Rockboxed. I need a scroll wheel too,or just some sort of clickwheel. If that iPod Classic gets full support from Rockbox then I'm all over it and going to buy one,until then I'm sticking with the old 5th generation iPod Video.

Yeah i was a hardcore clip+ user and folder browse only guy, but since i spent many hours on my digital collection to get it 95% perfect tag and album art wise i have found less and less of a need for it.

I'm just a convert to the ways of technology convergence it seems. I was heavily against it 6 months ago, but now that i have an iPhone that i use for nearly everything my opinion has changed. I do concede that i miss a few features offered by Rockbox, but the convenience of having one device to charge and keep track of currently out weighs them.

Yeah, although it is great having stuff you can fiddle with till your hearts content, it can be a lot easier if it deals with that all for you - especially for something like a phone.

TBH I don't see myself getting a different type of phone - I got a replacement 3Gs the other day (for the cost of a battery replacement), and I backed it up my old one before I visited the Apple store. When I got back home with my new one I plugged it in and did a restore. EVERYTHING including messages and useage statistics were replaced (but not email... who cares though).

So, in the life of my new iphone, I have spoken for 4 days and 16 hrs - although the phone itself is only 3 days old . Oh well, I like to see how many hours of radiation I have been exposed too
