Playing .mkv files

I pretty much know this answer but is there a way to play .mkv's on my J3 without converting them?

That being said, I have 720P videos (with built in subtitles) that I want to convert so I can watch them wherever. Whats the best encoder to use? What output settings did you use when you used the program? (assuming it isnt automatic).

nope, mkv and matroska in general is not supported.

i have mkv files in 480p, i use total video converter to convert them.
maybe you should give it a try.
If not try mkv2vob, its for ps3, but it still converts mkv to avi etc
