can't transfer files from Zen to PC

Hey guys, sorry if this has been covered already. I did a bunch of searches and downloaded the drivers and firmware, but still having problems. I edited a posting I found elsewhere which is identical to my problem, to wit:

I have an old (circa 2004) Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 30GB that I'm trying to get my music off of. I lost the mediasource cd and my current computer doesn't have it installed. Apparently you can't just plug it into a computer and copy data as if it were a usb drive (that would be far too simple).
After much searching I downloaded & installed the usb driver so now I can view all the mp3 files on the nomad but when I right click on files, I can only do Delete or Properties and no cut/copy etc.
My computer is a WinXP SP2, At this point I just want to want to get my music off this thing. Suggestions?

Mediasource is the program I have found that lets you do this. Not sure if you can still download it from the creative site however.

Hey DeDoddler, welcome to ABi...

I got 2 of the same Zen Xtras, 40GB. I used to use Notmad Explorer but that company seems to have folded up stakes [RedChairSoftware].

Anyway, I now use:

Winamp
Win XP SP2

to grab/manage my Zen Xtras. Depending on what version of WMP you have installed, you may also need to grab the MTP Porting Kit from MS [Google it].

Give the above a shot - cannot hurt in your case. Again, my OS environment is the same as yours.
