I just ordered 8 books off amazon, 1 book away from finishing my HST library and i even upgraded one from paperback to hardcover . I'm so excited to re-read these and read the 3 i haven't! I made my new years resolution to read many more books from now on because too many people don't read enough and i want to ensure i don't become one.

I just finished the Dennis Lehane Mackenzie/Genarro series of books. Now I am on The Passage by Justin Cronin and The Bible by various.

Liked the Hobbit as well....but I won't be revisiting any LOTR books...including the movies. I've had enough of that.

I recent manga series I started reading is "Afterschool Charisma" by Kumiko Suekane. The series is set in a special academy in the near future. What makes the academy special are the students. Each student (with one exception, the son of one of the professors) is a teenage clone of a famous historical figure. Among the students are Sigmund Freud, Florence Nightingale, Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, and Napoleon Bonaparte. I just got the second issue and it's an excellent read.

I spent a lot of 2009 reading every single Star Trek novel published. I am about 90% completed, still having to read some of the TOS books.

Am now reading the latest 4 book ST crossover series the Typhon Pact...

The last Star Trek series book I read was "Star Trek: New Frontier." While set at the same time as "Star Trek: The Next Generation," it had the feel of "Star Trek: The Original Series."

@Barristan: Agreed! Awesome series! I just hope Martin completes it before he kicks the bucket.... And book 4 is still not out...Also, do look into Scott R Bakker and the incredible Prince of Nothing trilogy. Epic storytelling and excellent writing.

@CDMP3PlayerFan: Also agree. NF indeed has a similar TOS feel. That McKenzie Calhoun character is the TNG era equivalent of Kirk in his prime

@Confispect: I am equally a fan of both. The Star Wars books collection will be my next long term reading project. But it seems the timeline for the SW novels is not as organized as the ST stuff. I am a bit of a completist as you can see...

I also see a bit of Sisko in Calhoun's character. Like Sisko, he's capable of doing things that are definitely not nice to reach his goals. Jumping series a bit, I see a little bit of the Seventh Doctor (played by Sylvester McCoy) in him too, where he goes in a direction that you wouldn't expect.

As far as series I'm currently reading, I plan to get back into the Robotech series by Jack McKinney soon. Although I'd seen a little bit of Robotech on television it didn't really interest me all that much. However, when I read the first novel in the series I was hooked. As a series of books, they overcome the frankenstein nature of the Robotect anime series (they took three unrelated anime series and merged them into one story) and made it a truly engaging story that got me through all 21 books in the series. Now, I think its time to read them once again, and this time in the correct order (the later books in the series fit in between some of the earlier books in the series).

Reading Brandon Sanderson Mistborn Series. Missing the last book though, still looking for a good condition copy by Tor Fantasy locally. Also intending to grab his way of Kings as long as the hardcover make it here or until I have enough stuff to collectively ship
