Heh, such a subforum would almost be appropriate.

It's sad that this bullshit marketing ruse works so well - even if all these celeb-endorsed cans get mostly mocked here on the forums, we *do* talk about them. In the end, all publicity is good publicity, as the saying goes.

Seeing as even reputable companies like AKG, Sleek, or Ultimate Ears jump on that endorsement bandwagon (next to the usual loudmouthed style-over-substance suspects, like Monster, Skullcandy, etc) shows that something's wrong in the headphone market - or at least that there is a shift of focus. Headphones as a whole are pretty good already, technically, not that much to improve in that aspect - so instead of spending more on R&D, they seem to give the money to marketing instead, and thus (probably) selling a lot more units.

I was thinking of one place (forum) to post all the other garbage like the amp/cable stone, cables and general audio related snake oil that's marketed to the unsuspecting audio enthusiasts, not just headphones.

Glad to see there are some who agree with me. My other intention is that those that make it into the forum "gears of joke" would be an informative one, a place to gather stuff you should never ever buy. Since it will be a forum, it will be more updated also instead of something like hall of shame etc...
