Some questions about the Beats Solo...

Hi
I think that I may get the Beats Solo, and i am only gettin it because i am going to use my air miles points to aquire it. It costs 1950 points, and i have 1800
i think i need to know a few more specific things before i take the plunge

1: Do these headphones leak?
2: Are they comfortable? (i can compromise this if necessary)
3: Are the right and left channels equal in sound (had some headphones have a stronger right channel than left... can compromise, but i would prefer it the were the same..)
4: Is the sound quality good

ANY help or suggestions would be helpful and thx in advance!

i tried the headphone section on the iaudiophile forums, but no one has posted in it yet, despite having been in there for about three days
this confirms my theory that nobody looks in there
and i posted in here to get some specific personal opinions and not some vague biased reviews... -.-

This is the correct forum that tds was talking about.

I don't think there are many people with them here, i know one or two members who have them around here. They are not a respected brand around here, over priced and under performing with a big name that fools people into buying them when in fact they are just overpriced skullcandy.

as explained in the first post i am not acquiring it with real money, it doesn't seem like a bad decision... maybe i should reconsider my options here...

Regarding the Beats, IMHO I'd use the air mile points for something more worth while. I tried them out once and I wasn't impressed with their congested, muddy sound quality, they leak ambient sound in and a little music out, so they don’t isolate well, they’re too expensive for what you get, they have poor build quality and I didn’t find them comfortable to me but YMMV.

BTW some places like BestBuy have them on display along with lots of other gear that you can test out but I'd still pass on these.

Besides budget you might want to post as much info as possible, for example: portable or home use (closed/open, naturally for portable you’d want closed), the type of music you listen to and the sound quality you prefer (i.e. stronger bass, neutral, well balanced across the spectrum, etc.). That said, dfkt recently posted about some very interesting portable headphones AIAIAI TMA-1, which I had seen around $140.00, but now I’m seeing them everywhere for $199.00 which is way over your budget. In that range I really like the Shure SRH840’s sound quality and comfort, but they’re $139.00 aside from those two, I’ll let others make some recommendations. Don’t forget to post as much info so everyone can help …

Just had to comment on this.

In my experience, all earphones sound quieter in the right ear than the left ear. That's because the ear doc says that I have 10% hearing loss in my right ear. Personally I think it's a little higher, but hey he's got the degree, I only use the ears.

I would be surprised if decent earphones were stronger on one side than the other.

Other info that i could post are the following:
1: as WalkGood said i want closed headphones
2: Good bass without sacrificing anything too much
3: i listen to every kind of music: classical, punk, hip-hop, trance, etc if that helps..
4: As stated b4 my budget is around $100... (i think close to $140 is a little too much... )

Audio-Technica ATH-M50, great bass and overall SQ, great build quality, and can be had on eBay for around $100.00.

The SQ on these is (IMO) a step up from the ATH-M50.

Since you are going to use points, why not get the solos, sell them for around $150-160 and buy some good cans with that cash .
