Default Creative releasing android tablets and touch player

Creative is releasing two android 2.1 tablets and a touch player. Here are specs but the prices aren't clear to me.
Available from the Creative online store starting at the end of December and at stores in January.

Zen touch
3.2" is $216 for 8gb and $248 for 16gb?
Wireless b/g/n
Bluetooth
video out
speaker
2mp camera
micro SD slot

Tablets
7" is $360 for 8gb, $390 for 16gb?
10" is $430 for 8gb, $460 for 16gb?
Wireless b/g/ only, not N. Is that a typo?
Bluetooth
HD video out
SD card slot

I'm confused.. what is this? The mobile convergence thead comes to mind, and this is really some weird combination of features.

Why wifi.. on a 3.2 inch screen? Should I be zooming in on every word?

On the bright side, they kinda listened to us, they added a volume rocker and h264 and ogg support.
And I think GPS is nice but like the article said you also need some kind of data connection to really utilize it, IIRC, maybe it works through wifi but that kinda cripples the GPS functionality.

The camera may be nice but I wonder if 2MP will be any better than no camera at all.

Weird thing.. it better be cheap.

Ugh, terrible design on the touch player. Why not release the Zii Egg or at least base the Zen Touch 2 closely on it? So much unnecessary bezel on this thing.

As for the tablets they don't look bad, although its disappointing that they have resistive displays.

"The display is resistive"

........

Ahhhhh why. Same thing with the archos player. Otherwise this device isn't TERRIBLE... but what's with the huge bezel? ew.

Still waiting for someone to do an Android PMP PROPERLY. Samsung Yp-G50 comes close, but again, it's kind of gimped by a smaller low-res screen, poor camera, etc. I was hoping Sony would come out with one... they would probably do it right.

lame excuse on creative's part (for the zen touch 2 at least). The zii looked so promising, and the best they do is release this pmp that cannot compare, at least not yet, to the ipod touch 4th gen imo

Could use full tech specs ffs. But honestly, yet another android player with nothing special to add. At least it has microsd expansion and solid codec support.

Seems like yet again instead of being at the forefront of innovation and design as it once was Creative feels comfortable being a follower, offering nothing new or interesting.

PS someone should move this to creative heh

Creative has disappointed me again. And I so much loved my old Creative Zen. These tablets are old news before they even go on sale.

iPod touch screen is 3.5" with wifi. Seems to be a big seller. It's big enough to read email, texts, check news, radar, etc. More Creative touch 2 info here:

I don't need any of this stuff. Where is the damned new Sony S series, for f**** sake.

Yes, that's right, I have added absolutely nothing of value to this conversation.

Come on, it's got that "new" tech, a resistive screen!!!

BTW: I wish Creative would make a real comeback, since I'd
LOVE to get one of their DAP/PMP's.

I am patiently awaiting Sony's comeback with the new S series in at least 16gb, but my patience is wearing thin.

LOL @ $216 for an 8GB player with a resistive screen. That's more expensive than a 32GB Zune HD, and no mentioned of a Micro SD slot.

Sony is no longer an option for me, since they ignore the North American market too much. I still say, unfortunately, that Sony can KMA.

True, as Creative is great at being so darn uncreative nowadays. Damn shame, as I'd love a real Z:VM killa!!!

I guess the cost is due to the Zii crap. Who would have guessed that designing some stupid arm system on a chip from scratch would be stupidly expensive verses purchasing a ready made part where the design costs are amortized across tens of millions of devices?
