did anybody look recently at the creative website?
i was suprised when i did a few minutes ago...two new "entertainmend devices" caught my eye: the creative ZiiO 7 and 10. the number stands for its screen size 7" and 10" and both have either 8 or 16gb internal memory plus a sd slot (up to 32gb). the 7 has micro sd and the 10 a sd slot. those look actually kind of sweet... ZiiO 7: http://uk.store.creative.com/product...=948&pid=20231 ZiiO 10: http://uk.store.creative.com/product...=948&pid=20230 a small update: they have also released ZEN touch 2 now. looks like creative was busy lately. it comes also with android 2.1. it looks really interesting but it is weird that they don't advertise the x-fi technology with this player. so i guess the thouch 2 does not have it? here a link to the product: http://uk.store.creative.com/product...=948&pid=20275 Last edited by kredig; 11-05-2010 at 09:39 AM. |

Not sure if this has already been posted, i couldn't see it, but it's something of modest interest. Creative has released a Tablet with Android OS. |

I just found out about these, and I think they look pretty nice.
Android based, good codec support, mini HDMI out, wireless b/g, bluetooth for streaming music to speakersets and supports apt-X which promises higher bandwidths for streaming via bluetooth. It has an ARM Cortex A8 processor at 1 GHz which I thought isn't bad at all. It has a microphone and camera so you can make videocalls, but with no 3G and no GPS this device seems to be targeted for "in home" use. No 3G also means no Android Market, but with an Android 2.2 based firmware update the market should be accessible through wifi. Too bad it's STILL a resistive touchscreen, but maybe that's why it's also not too expensive: 10" 8GB €299.99 16GB €319.99 7" 8GB €249.99 16GB €269.99 ![]() ![]() Specifications: Creative ZiiO 7" (480x800), white / Creative ZiiO 10" (1024x600), black Processor: ZiiLabs ZMS-08 OS: Android 2.1 (for now) Audio support: mp3, aac, wma9, flac, ogg, adpcm, midi, wav, Audible Format4 Video support: h.264, mpeg4, wmv9, mjpeg, mov, avi, mkv picture support: jpg, bmp, png Front faced VGA camera Mono microphone Stereo speakers Accelerometer Expansion: microSD / SD Connectivity: mini-USB, 3,5mm jack, WiFi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR met APT-X & A2DP, mini HDMI-out Dimensions: 20,74 x 13,3 x 1,37 cm / 26,2 x 17,3 x 1,37 cm Weight: 400g / 650g |

Resistive screen though... so no multitouch and it will cost more than the Archos 70. Not sure what the advantage is of this device. Hopefully good SQ

I'm with G-man. Spec by spec the Archos tablets (70 or 101) look better, and around the same price.

I'm hoping the egde will be SQ, Apx Bluetooth (and optimised to access and use BT quickly and effectively), and play back of HD video with better codec support (less file conversion hopefully) than the Archos.
I have never owned an Archos device, been tempted a few times but from what I have read they are a little like apple in that they don't exceed too well in any one area. I have always went for cowon or summin else that I KNOW at least will succeed in at least 1 area (SQ for Cowon). I guess what im saying is id rather buy a device that I believe is going to succeed and do well in 1 area rather than buy a device that hasn't really had a reputation for doing well in any area particularly (the old master of one trade vs jack of all others argument). |

I had the pleasure of using an Android Tablet with a resistive screen, not what I would call a enjoyable experience. These companies need to realize that they aren't making windows mobile 6 tablets. Android devices with resistive screens should be avoided at all costs.

Yeh im really having second thoughts over the creatives ziio. I think i will save my money and wait for eink colour readers to hit the market next year.

I had the pleasure of using this Archos tablet today at best buy.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Archos+-...ract_desc=null All I can say is any android tablet with a resistive touch screen should be avoided at all costs. It felt really sluggish and unresponsive. |

Yeh im holding off buying the creative ziio7 till sumone does a decent review (and it gets 2.2).
If only the x7 had a higher res I think it would have been THE device to get this year. I wouldnt be surprised if it gets a better screen further down the line. PS Darkside I think Creative now have the ziio's for preorder <wink wink>

If they can release the ziio as a 3.5-4.5 inch screen I'd be happy as hell
