"with the Zip they made it slightly bigger in height and width and kept the weight in check by making it a little thinner. So I don't want them making it 25% thicker. I get around 12 hours playtime with my high-bitrate MP3's, and I am just fine with that....after all, it is not my only player. "
The Clip Zip is much lighter than the Clip+. For many people, a Clip is their only player. |

Regardless of the semantics of what constitutes "much lighter", the fact remains that if you made it 25% thicker and jammed a larger battery in there, it would get significantly heavier......which would detract from the device's intended use as an ultraportable DAP.

Personally I didn't see a large audience for the Super Clip before the Fuze was discontinued, but the Fuze+ hasn't covered that need. To me, it will be quite interesting when Sansa brings out the Fuze+ replacement (Fuze Zip?) presumably in Aug/Sept/Oct/Nov 2012 (depends where you live, as the Clip Zip is not available in Canadian stores as of yesterday). Will it be the Super Clip Zip or something else? Steve |

Naw. The Clip Zip's screen doesn't need to be physically larger, it just needs more pixels to fill that space. Something akin to the first generation iPod Nano's pixel density would suffice.

It should also be mentioned that, by going full-color, the Clip Zip departs from the Clip line's trend of using OLED screens and sports a plain old LCD. I've seen it misstated elsewhere on the net (on Wikipedia and the Rockbox wiki, for instance) that the Zip's screen is OLED, but it plainly isn't. (For print confirmation, I refer you to SanDisk's Clip Zip press release.) It better.

I've never really checked the battery time on my Clip+, but as long as it at least gets 8 hours, I'm good to go. I primarily listen to it at work. Charging it up isn't that big of a deal.

I really beg to differ:
Update: datasheet http://www.displayfuture.com/enginee...LED/M00231.pdf (it could be the M00230 as well) Your turn to beg!

Couldn't tell you.....if it did, I didn't see it. The 5 images in that one post were what I saw, in order.

Hm. My apologies then, TexasRockbox. If the SanDisk does indeed use the Visionox M00230/M00231 OLED in the Clip Zip, they should be congratulated for locating the absolute worst color OLED on the planet. Great job, SanDisk!

Again, it's not an AMOLED.
SanDisk could improve things by changing the firmware to calibrate the display. |

Yes, perhaps BMOLED? (I'll give you three guesses what the "BM" stands for.
