Any Reason Clip+ Screen Couldn't Be Bigger?

I don't know about the internals of the Clip+, but I was just toying around with the idea, and manipulated a photo in GIMP. Seems on paper, the screen could be bigger at least:

A bigger screen would eat more battery power....that would not be received well by a lot of people.

Then you would end up with a bigger player, which wouldn't be quite the same. I say keep it small, and then they should unveil....Fuze2!

The next generation Fuze with the Clip+ controls on it instead of the wheel....that would be the best of both worlds. The better working controls of the Clip+, and the battery life of the Fuze.

I would like that. But instead of calling it a Fuze, which seems to be headed in a different direction, how about the "Clip Super-Size".

Don't fix what ain't broken imo, a bigger screen would lead to lowered battery life or a bigger battery to even out the battery life which would need to make it thicker.

I have a hard time thinking of the next generation of the clip because personally there is nothing i would want them to change. Hell if they discontonued them i would go out and buy 2-3 of them just in case.

It was just a thought is all. Was fun manipulating the photo in GIMP too. I agree, if they discontinued the Clip+, would have to go get a few. I see that Best Buy has the 4 giggers for $40.

One thought I've always had is using the entire face (or majority of the face) of the Clip as a screen with the buttons at the very sides/edges of the face, or embedded into the sides of the face as iRiver has done. I wonder if this could be done with lack of impact on battery power, given battery improvements (or a small increase in size).

i don't see why they couldn't make it bigger, the nano is less than half the size and volume of the clip+ but has a bigger colour screen and gets twice the battery life, only thing wrong is that it's Apple and priced accordingly.

Well, I know they make power saving chips. Some of the Chinese players with the SC9800 chipsets are getting upwards of 10 hours battery life, and that's watching video.

You get 3x battery life for the trade off the 3x cost, sounds super duper. There is a reason why the clip is well priced and the cost of their batteries, the basic 3 colour screen are no doubt large reasons why it is a great value player. Changing those specifications would raise the cost of the clip quite drastically and move it from it's budget throne.

I can't understand the need for screen real estate when a player only plays music, and even with 20+gb on the clip+ it's still extremely easy to quickly find what you're looking for.

I don't think they make those monochorme OLED screens much larger. Bigger then that and you have to go full color:

Fuze isn't that much more expensive than clip, its main disadvantage is the proprietary usb connector.

If they do a bigger clip it should use an AA battery like the old E140 (used an AAA), Cowon G2, Iriver T10, etc. It would be like a cross between the Clip and the M200.

oh I'm agreeing the clip+ is great value, I got one after looking at lots of different players including Cowons (I could only really afford the i9), other Sansas, Apple, Philips, Sony etc.

i'm just saying that technically Sansa could make one with a bigger screen/better battery life/smaller.
