Default Marshall Headphones (Nov!)

Marshall Headphones – Sneak Peek

Posted on: 19 October 2010

The heavy sound of Marshall has been carried over the world for nearly 50 years. Breathless roadies and roaring trucks have worked hard to make Marshall heard all across the globe. Now, time has come for you to carry this magnificent burden of rock 'n' roll all by yourself.

Spending half a decade on tour with the most prominent and untamed musicians builds experience and a feel for what really works. This unparalleled amount of wisdom has been distilled and fused into every part of Marshall Headphones.

Nothing has been compromised when expanding the Marshall heritage of big stage performance to the individual enjoyment of good music. These headphones are conceived from Marshall's time-tested fundaments of performance and endurance, designed to thrive on daily use and to render music the way it was meant to sound, no matter what your flavor is. The greatest of effort has also been put into the aesthetics, making the headphones ooze of that iconic Marshall look.

Marshall Headphones is set to launch on the 15th of November world wide. Please visit www.marshallheadphones.com for more information.

Are they tube-powered? Do they break up real nicely? Are they only for music that was made with Marshall amps?

Sorry, I'm being silly. (and only on my second post!)
But this really seems like a silly idea.

I don't know if i would call it silly. If a half assed company like monster can enter the game, a real company like marshall has a hope at making something thay doesn't suck. I for one am curious.

I am curious but also ambivalent. I just hope this is not a stunt by Marshall to try and cash in on the apparently very lucrative headphone market, a la Kicker...

Still could be very interesting and I will try and pay attention to this...Thanks for the heads up Adub

More or less covers my views. Would be interested to see a review, however.

These will probably cost God knows how much, hence I guess I'll have to sit this review out.

Prices and other details have been announced.

The exterior of the headband's made up of the same vinyl Marshall uses on its amplifiers, for that extra sense of familiarity, and the price is set at 99, whether you're talking euros or dollars. Similarly currency-agnostic is the Minor set of in-ear drivers, pictured below, which comes in at 59 eurodollars. For that you'll get a tangle-resistant fabric cord with an integrated mic, a patented EarClick system for securing the buds in your ear, and the admiration of consumer types everywhere. Or you would if they hadn't already sold out.

I have a bad feeling about those... sure looks like some low-quality gimmicky stuff with the Marshall brand name slapped on, both the full-sized ones and the weird ear-gobs.

They are.

From one of the comments at Engadget:
Quote:
Hmmm theyre not made by Marshall themselves; a company called Zound is making them (http://www.zoundindustries.com/) in fact the Marshall Minor (which is sold out) seems to be available from Urbanears (who also use Zound) and in many more colors (under Urbanears own branding of course)

The reviews of Zound made headphones seems mediocre at best, looks like we're just paying for branding here.
Here's a pic of Urbanear's version of the Minor (aka Medis)

http://www.urbanears.com/product/medis-black

The Major is probably a slightly modified UE Plattan.

Hmmm, this is starting to look like fail to me...

Hoped for better from Marshall for the IEMs, instead of going for what appears to be OEM China design...
