A while ago I bought myself a pair of JVC Flats. I was looking for a new pair of headphones which were not IEM's, were good at blocking out noise, comfortable, and had good SQ. These JVC Flats are nearly perfect. They work perfectly with my Rockboxed Fuze and the SQ is great, are very comfortable and are good at blocking out noise, another plus is their price. However, a couple of days ago I noticed that the left side was significantly quieter than the right. My dad had pointed this out to me before when I let him give them a try, but I didn't pay any attention to it because he was listening to an audiobook and that wasn't really a good way to test it out. With whatever music I listen to, the left side is significantly quieter. I did a test to confirm this by simply switching the headphones around and having the right side on my left ear and the left side on my right ear, same results. I am very disappointed about this, they really are great headphones and I really don't want to have to get yet another pair of headphones. Has anybody else experienced this before? I don't know what to do about this yet. Should I just buy another pair or look into something else? I really do love these headphones and I wish they hadn't started dying so quickly after I got them.

It hasn't been very long.....is there any kind of warranty? For that matter, is there one even from the store you got them from? I threw out all the packaging from mine, so I don't know.
Also, does wiggling the cable around help? Did you wrap them around your players tightly, or anything like that?

I'm not sure about warranty....I got them from my local BB store (not online). I threw away all my packaging too lol, and I wasn't able to test one out in the store, but I remember them working fine until now. I haven't tried wiggling around the cable...and no, I haven't wrapped them around my players tightly. It'd be great if I knew more about the warranty....even though its probably over....

From the JVC Support site:
Model Warranty Inquiry MODEL NUMBER : HA-S150BN LABOR :12 Months PARTS :12 Months This is a non-repairable accessory item and carries a replacement warranty. If your unit is under warranty, please contact our Customer Care Center at 800-252-5722 to obtain a replacement. Do not send this unit for repair or return it to the dealer. I'd give them a call and see what they can do. If you're lucky it may be like Koss and they'll replace them for a small shipping fee. Good Luck. |

Thanks everyone for the help, I'll consider calling that number. What happens if you don't have the receipt or original packaging? Does that mean I am unable to get a replacement or get my money back?

The JVC Flats surprised me. They sound much better than what I expected for $14. The earpads do make my ears a bit hot though. I think my ears tend to overheat easier than average when using headphones with pleather earpads. I was thinking of ways to change or modify the earpads.

Yes, but then the bass might not be as good. I think the bass depends greatly on how tight the fit it.
