clip+ in new colors, purple and white

I've always thought that Clips in bronze, platinum and silver for the different memory levels would be way cool. I still like my silver reflective 4GB Clip (apart from trying to read it in the sun or bright light--but that's an issue with all Clips, I find).

Heh yeah, I always liked the silver clip too. Everyone who saw it thought it looked slick, unlike my newer, black Clip+. But in the end, SQ wins, and the Clip+ with RB has that cornered.

Now the shiny silver clip is getting donated to my sister.

Aw man! I just bought a black 4GB! Had I known they would soon have White, I probably would have gone with that. I work at a pizza place and the White would hopefully not show as much flower as the black does now. Oh well. It works just the same. Just a little more.....speckled.

The increase in colour options is welcome. The continued punishment for people willing to spend more money on the highest capacity is not.

I think it's a much better option to buy a 4GB for 40 bucks as opposed to a 8GB for 57 bucks (current amazon.com prices). I have several microSD cards laying around and I know a 4GB card doesn't cost anywhere near 15-20 bucks. These things are really not made for long term usage anyways, so I think it's better to go cheaper route for the player and invest in a microSD card that you can always swap out to another player if needed.

If you really want a purple Clip+, but want it in 8GB...just get the 4GB Clip+ in purple, then get a 4GB card for 8-10 bucks and there ya go, plus you saved some $$. Or you can get a 8Gb microSd card for around 15 bucks online.

True, good point for most occasions - problem for some of us is that we have 8gb clip+'s with 32gb microsd cards that are approaching full already.

I try to keep my portable music limited to what I'll likely listen to, but that really ranges on mood and I have a lot of classical music stored in flac that I really don't want to give up/downgrade.

Anyhow, point being that a few options at the top of the line would be welcome.

CPU noise during quiet sections of music even with Rockbox killed it for me. Once I got the Clip+ the noise issue was so much better that I just couldn't go back.

Agreed. It would also be nice for SanDisk to cater to people like me, who would be continually bothered by the fact that my 4GB Clip+ -- no matter how large a microSD card I put in it -- will always have 4GB less than it should.

I think my two 8GB Clip Pluses have about 24GB less of internal memory than they should.

Of course, if cost is no issue, it's always possible to swap the guts of a black 8gb player into a nice colorful 4gb shell. Did this with the v1 clip to give my gf a light pink 8gb player.

But, that all takes extra time, money and effort.

Any guides on how to swap out the colour face plates without breaking the devices?

The Clip+ housing consists of only two halves, front and back. You'd have to swap the whole front half of the housing (or the whole housing, since the back of all variants is black anyways, AFAIK). The halves are clipped together (no surprise there, going by name ) - you'd probably need some thin prying tools to get it open without breaking it, or at least some strong finger nails.
