Default recording quality in deferent music players [under 100$] ?!

If I want a device to do the recording I well certainly buy a recorder not a digital Music player but I have been ask lots of times about good quality recording mp3 players (mostly under 100$).
the only interesting device I found were the sansa players ,when you use the OF it has a simple pause resume ability ,and if you use RockBox lots of sittings well be available to use : like --->fuze v.2 or clip--> here.
if you guys have any experience in players recordings abilities or recording quality please share your experience it well be useful for high majority of usual MP3 player users.(as I said before the target players are players under 100$)
thanks

Hey Peaceful1:

Well, I have had a few DAPs with mic recording built in. I have used them a grand total of 3 times, always to record conversations I wanted to have on record. With all, I found that the mic sensitivity was pretty poor at a distance beyond 5-7 feet during normal voice conversations. This was on a Fuze, an RCA Opal and I even used my Nokia 6300 cell phone once for this. The cell phone was actually the worst for some reason.

My mom now regularly uses the Fuze [original firmware] mic to record her singing lessons/class. The recordings sound horrible to me but she is fine with it, as she only needs to keep track of the stuff going on in the class.

So, IMO/IME, if one needs a quality recording for voice, best thing to do is to get a dedicated voice recorder of decent quality. They are extremely cheap. And I feel that the worst/cheapest dedicated voice recorder will still probably do a better job than any of the included mic recorders on mp3 players.

my 2 cents, YMMV...

cheers and btw, how varied is the consumer electronics market in Iran? Brands available? pricing, etc...?
-lestatar

well brands available are:
apple,archos,creative, Sony,cowon,irever,philips,sumsung,(as I can remember)
pricing
sony
I'll explane with examples
all brands don't have the same policy for example the rep of sony and sumsung don't care about the market its like the costemer that buys a LED is more important that the guy that buys a music player
.for exp:
sony X1060-16GB 470 US $
sony A828-8Gb 200 Us $
irever: & archos
they are presented by the same company
archos 5 -32Gb 430US$
archos 9-60Gb 745 US$
irever story 2GB 360US $
irever E150 8 GB 115 US $
cowon:
cowon J3 32Gb 355US$
cowon V5 32Gb 420US$
creative:
x-fi style 16Gb 160 US $
availably
well most ppl buy these needs from physical stores (not the net) they don't trust the internet.
music players are not much popular,Iranians are cellphone freaks but there not much interested in music players and there not even aware of the deferences so its not available every were but its easy to find in big cities.(most of all the capital,Tehran).
but some brands are very hard to find like sansa,a month ago after lots of research I found a fuze v.2,fuze v.2 and clip ver.2 can be find very hard but you can't find even one clip+ .(because of sanctions)
service centers:
most of those brands have service center the best I found was:
creative & cowon reps
popularity
the most popular brands are :creative, sony, apple
headphones
Philips ,creative, sony ,akg, some models of JVC , Panasonic, sennheiser, can be found.
I have to add near all these brands are over priced like if you find IE8 mostly its priced near 850US$ only one place sells it 350$ and all the sennheiser are fake & over priced thats the funny thing.
the most popularity headphones are Sony and creative.
creative is well priced but mostly Sony is more than two times more than the original price.

The Cowon S9 and J3 have line-in with a cheap cable you can get from them. If you want great audio recording, a small amp with mic-in and line-out works great. I've used my J3 with that cable and a wireless mic set. Works great.

For recording I suggest people look at the Olympus WS700M. In the US it is around $78.
It has 4 GB built in, a micro SDHC card slot, stereo microphones, ability to record to card or main memory(user selectable, ability to record in mp3, wma or PCM(wav).

It is limited as a music player though, as there is no tag browsing, and it seems like there is no support for variable bitrate or protected files. It also has no shuffle mode. I don't have one of these yet, but I have been considering buying one.

Even if someone in Iran could buy it, it probably wouldn't be a good idea for someone in Iran to buy or use a Sandisk player.
That also makes me wonder if all PCs in Iran use AMD processors?

I'm sorry JK98, but can you please be more specific here as I am not understanding your reasoning here...? Sorry if I am being dense...

The chairman and founder of Sandisk Dr. Eli Harari is from Israel. Part of Sandisk(M systems) is located in Israel.

Intel makes many of their chips in Israel.

Some people in Iran might get very upset if they see someone walking around with a Sandisk player. For reasons of personal safety, a person living in Iran shouldn't have a Sandisk player.

well all Iranian know the story about Intel & AMD and also sandisk.
also we never had problems with Intel or AMD and other similar brands and no Iranian well get upset in using high-tec stuff or spotting others with it,we all know how to find our way even in the hardest point. haha
______________
the reason I made this topic is some users look for cheap music players and they want to know the deference between there recording ability I'm aware of the Existence of recorders ,so please if you have any experience about music players let me know
thanks.
