Hello, i am going to be getting a sony walkman mp3 player and i need to find some good headphones to go with it. I am on somewhat of a budget so if i can get something good under $75 USD that would be great.

Hey SaliMaine...come here often? lol
A great start would be to look through this excellent chart/thread: http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15243 Some more basic info would be very helpful: - can you wear IEMs? - do you prefer earbuds or IEMs or full size headphones? - what kinda music do you generally listen to? Don't need your life story but stuff like this can be very helpful to getting better suggestions. Also, if you are looking at IEMs, these are a complete steal right now, the Panasonic HJE900 - from many people I trust here, these may be the best IEMs out there, rivaling IEMs that cost 3-4 times as much. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-RP-H...tag=abi-frm-20 cheers! -lestatar

I have tried IEMs in the past and they have not worked that well (could have been the brand). I have used my fair share of earbuds and those tend to work better. I have also had some sony MDR-Q22LP clip on style headphones i thought were decent. I would like some IEMs or earbuds and a pair of full size headphones as well but i may just start with one or the other or get something like the sony clip ons.

If you don't like IEMs you could try the Senn PX100 people seem to like those. I had a pair that got destroyed, and I like em.

The JVC Flats are even less expensive, and the SQ is equal to the PX100 or the koss PortaPro.

IEMs on a budget from eBay. I know that there is another thread about this where at least one person is wondering if they are fakes. I suspect not, but don't actually know. I know nothig about these or the seller. However, I have 2 pair on order.

I recommend the JVC Air cushion headphones. Really love these, they are really good for the price, very affordable =D I also like the Sennheiser HD 202.

Where and how do you plan on using the headphones? Will they be for studying, going to the gym, sleeping in, etc. I wouldn't recommend the same headphones that you would use on the new york subway vs. lying in bed at night. Give a bit more information, and we can give better advice.

I would use the earbuds or IEMs at the gym and walking around campus and i would use the on/over ear headphones for listening to music in my dorm room and at home

Instead of buying two probably not very good headphones I would spend the money on either a pair of closed full sized or IEMs which you can use pretty much anywhere. . .
IEMs that I see recommend a lot in this price range are the S4, Hippo VB, RE0. . . . If you wanted to stretch your budget a bit you could get the HJE900s which are $80 at JR.com. (I'm looking forward to them) |
