Glad to see they're adding apps from people outside their team and definitely congrats to Dino.

There's a few more 3rd party Twitter apps out there that need to be fixed. MS did theirs in a timely manner, but then if you're a Twitter addict, nothing seems timely if the downtime is more than a few seconds

Congrats Dino!

Excuse the ignorant question but would only musicians use this? And can someone give me a real world scenario use of this app? I'm just having a hard time imagining one. Thanks.

No, it is more for musicians (and percussionists on that note).
I wonder if there's tap to set tempo...

I've used this app for a day and have just a few concerns:
  1. You can't play music while using this app, which doesn't let you find the tempo of that song
  2. You can't tap out the BPM
  3. You can't set the pulse to eight-note, triplet, etc.
Other than that, as I've said before, the app is pretty nice; It looks good and is fairly easy to use (I accidentally paused it and didn't realize the big circle was the play/pause button.).

I might sound boring, but (from my studio and live gig experience) most bands and amateur musicians nowadays have small laptops with sequencers or simple drum machines, which can always play a "tik tik tik tok" at any time division...why would they want to use a Zune HD metronome? I'm not fully against it, but i would prefer a nice "tapping drum machine recorder/player" with some drum kits to choose from...This could also be useful to people who aren't musicians...just tapping and recording rythm patterns for fun...(something like the 3rd party drum app for Zune HD but a little more advanced)...

You can use the app while listening to the radio or an audio podcast, but not a song from your music library? lol. Does anyone test these apps before they're thrown up on the marketplace? How do you screw up a metronome app?

I found having a metronome nice today while jamming with my friends, it's portable, and when you drum, it's nice to have the beat right there, for reference. I like it, and I really don't see the point of having music playing while using a met, IMO would screw everything up.

Yea, but the option would be nice, wouldn't it? I think the biggest thing that MS should be trying to do is satisfy as many people as possible with each release. And ultimately, people want functionality and freedom. (generally. xD)

How in the world does a metronome app satisfy the majority of Zune HD owners? It's a niche market at best that would need one. Must have been a quick-n-dirty one to get released.

I wonder....could a metronome type app interrogate a song and work out a beats per minute or other meter info of a particular song ?

Guys, just as a sidenote: I created the metronome some months ago because people at Zuneboards requested it. Its not MS who said "Oh, the ZuneHD needs a metronome, cause it will satisfy 80% of ZuneHD users".
So instead of being picky, just be happy about MS keeping release apps! If you have no use of particular released apps, it's a personal "problem" in my point of view. I know there are people who want a metronome on their Zune and this app is exactly for them. And its still FREE, right? So if you have no use for it, just don't fire it up. Thats my advice

Greetings,
Dirk

Well my son likes it. He is learning piano, and he plays this with a little mp3 speaker to get the right timing/beat for his playing... Thanks
