Okay, okay, so I wouldn't want pink fuzzy skullcandies, lol. I just want something that sounds decent. This is more of a curiosity thing than anything else at this point. I might not even like wearing cans, hair messed up or not, lol.

I owned the XB700's and the SQ is quite good. They're touted as being huge in the bass dept, but the sound is actually very even across the frequencies. They have GOOD bass, not HUGE. And for the price they do rock. The M50's are a slight step up in clairity and mids - but for $79.99 I think you have a winner!!!
Plus they don't need much to make 'em boom: Product Specifications: Impedance : 24 ohms Power Handling Capacity : 3000mW Driver Unit : 50mm driver, dome type Frequency Response : 3 to 28,000Hz The frequency response IS exaggerated, but they do sound good IMO. Yeah, the bass was definitely there, but I didn't think it to be overwhelming. Like I said, I didn't think they sounded bad, I just don't have anything to compare them to. BTW, is it me, or do those cans in the photo look like they're going to swallow that girls head? They look huge on her. I, on the other hand, have a somewhat large cranium.

![]() Those 700's seem so big, it makes me think I was trying the 500's, and not the 700's. The label on the setup def said 700's though. Those are freakin huge, lol.

Me either, lol. They would totally be for home use. I have IEM's for outdoors.

Hey UV, I knew you would get lots of good fullsize cans recommedations from the peeps here, especially TDS, dfkt, WG, Marv and others.
I can offer no advice on this [cause I don't use fullsize cans] so I have been quietly lurking, keeping my mouth shut [unusually] ;D

It's all good lestatar. I have received some good help from most you mentioned. There's a place in Springfield called Samuel Music I forgot all about. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow, see if they even sell them. They have a website, but it's piss poor.

Anyone here familiar with the Audio Technica ATH-M40fs? The reviews seem to be pretty good for them, and for $59, the price is very reasonable. I found out Samuel Music carries them, but they're asking $94.

Those were SOny XB-500's I tried at BB, not 700's. Tbh, I don't think I could stand wearing cans. Think I'll stick to my IEM's. Thanks for all the help and suggestions none the less.

Those sony's drove me nuts, a buddy loaned me a set with those huge pads, uggg.
If you decide you want to try some nice but lower priced cans, the JVC rx900's are VERY comfy, and you can find them for under 40usd if you look, they are still a steal at 50 tho. a few minor tips with the rx900's tho, remove the pads take the acoustic lens off and remove the felt under it, they sound alot better without it, and its an easy 10-15min mod (for both sides) after some burn-in they sound great, nothing like the sony's, they are BIG but they are still comfy even for out and about(specially in winter). Want to know how much I like those cans, I still bring them to work with me most days, despite having some very nice IEM's as well(that i love) they are just comfy and sound good, and they are pretty cheap ![]() if the golden ears on head-fi dont say they are trash, they must be pretty decent. http://rockmartdeals.com/index.php?o...hk=1&Itemid=28 Last edited by EggyCuppy; 09-01-2010 at 04:38 PM. |
