Now, what have we got here!
http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/18/s...urs-of-batter/ Looks like sandisk will answer our longing after all. it's about time. ... though i don't find it too impressive, 24 hours? Really? how about 48, huh? |

Very nice, too bad it's not in 32gb or 64gb flavors. And yeah, RB for it would be the shiit!!!

i have to disagree on this one. the screen grows from 1.9" to 2.4", so there's got to be some more place for a bigger/better battery. the i9 seems to have a comparable form factor, and obviously has a higher capacity batterym with 29 hours playtime.
and i totally agree with you on the geebees . what's wrong with todays mp3 player makers, are they trying to shove 128kbps into our as... ears?no 32 gb is for me the deal breaker. edit: now wait, what means capacitive touch control? is it tactile stuff like samsung and i9 or "capactive touch"? i guess the first. but it could also mean that they increase display size and decrease control elements size to keep the fuze form factor. well, we'll know in a few weeks, at the latest. |

Someone did make a comment comparing this to an iPod on codec support (better), as well as a Nano on the price (this will be the cheaper of the 2). I can see where this might have a fighting chance, as well as the ability to add additional memory for expansion.
And that "capacitive touch" crap might be a deal breaker for me BTW. I love my DAP's w/tactile controls, at least a blend of the 2. No way will I go all touch UI - I personally hate it - YMMV.

Please excuse my language, but what the hell is wrong with Engadget? Seriously, "slot radio support" in the headline? How much did Sandisk pay them for that advertisement of a more-than-dead platform?
Also, 16GB maximum, still? (Read my first sentence again for my sentiments on that matter, replace Engadget with Sandisk.) Same goes for the almost acceptable battery life, that's still half of what other manufacturers offer. OLED sounds nice, though.

First off, I don't care one bit about slotRadio. I don't care about the bigger size, and 16GB maximum (I can just add a microSDHC card to expand the current Fuze to 16GB). And what I'm disappointed about the most, is no improvement in battery life. 24hrs is too short for me to use as my main player. In short, what I'm saying, is I see no good reason to wait a couple of months or so for the Fuze+, I'll just go ahead and get myself a Fuze v2 now. And the extra codec support, who cares! That's what Rockbox is for.

Lol the Cowon J3 looks like the perfect device for me, but its too expensive at $237 on Amazon, when the Fuze would only cost me $70.

![]() @EggCuppy, if Cowon made a Fuze-like device, then I would not hesitate to buy it, especially if it had the great battery life and sound enhancements that the S9 and J3 do.

Yeah nothing here to get excited about. Aside from that, I don't like the sound of the controls, and the form factor and new UI look rather bad. So, I guess we'll see when more details emerge, but for now? Not excited.

As far as this Fuze+ business goes, I'm pretty nonplussed myself. A woefully minor (by today's standards) capacity upgrade, unwelcome touch controls, barely increased battery life, and modest screen resolution don't do much to stoke my excitement, either. I will be curious to see what the new GUI is like, though, simply because SanDisk hasn't updated that aspect of its players in years. EDIT: I just noticed the "Hi-speed micro-USB 2.0 port" bullet point...Is this the death of the Sansa dock connector? I know plenty of people dislike proprietary ports, but I've always loved being able to cleanly park my Fuzes and my e280s in my various Sansa docks and stream my tunes through them. Pity (for me) if that era is over...Guess that's another reason (in addition to the major one, which is Rockbox) to stick with the current Fuze line... 16 GB built in wouldn't be so bad if it had a full sized SDXC card slot. They should have also doubled the battery life to 48 hours. Many people like the Fuze due to the tactile controls. No HD radio? Does it at least have a mini USB connector? I hope they won't discontinue the original Fuze. I am very disappointed!

Why do that when they can get you to buy their MicroSD cards instead. |

People don't always buy sandisk cards and you would think they'd want to grow or capture market share, as there isn't many mfg's in the larger size DAP category. It may prove an easier segment to win more share from the fruit company, ever hear of building a better mouse trap ... if they could deliver like they've done with the Clip, Clip + and Fuze in that segment, I'd think it would be a win.

IMO they should not increase the screen size, they should increase battery life THEN capacity
