Display off problem

The display off setting turns off the display after there has been no activity for a few monutes.

The problem is that whenever it does this it not only turns off the display, it turns off the ability to use the touchscreen as well. I would expect that the display would turn off, but that touching it would still activate it (and turn the display back on), unless I put it on hold as well. How can I get it to behave this way?

The D2 had the same feature and i thought that the j3 would have it too but it did not.
